About the job

Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with at least 4 years in hardware sustaining, new product introduction, or manufacturing engineering for high-volume electronics.
  • A solid grasp of schematic and printed circuit board design review, including the ability to read a design, reason about a power tree, and assess the risk of a proposed change.
  • Direct experience with contract manufacturers, including design for manufacturing, yield, final assembly, test, surface-mount technology, and production issue resolution.
  • Structured root-cause discipline using methods such as 8D, 5-Why, or fishbone analysis, and follow-through to close corrective actions with suppliers.
  • Ability to own ambiguous, cross-cutting problems in a distributed team.
Responsibilities
  • Investigate returns and field failures, drive root-cause analysis to closure, and distinguish confirmed findings from inferred findings.
  • Manage engineering change orders, printed circuit board respins, and component substitutions, and maintain revision traceability across the product fleet.
  • Handle end-of-life component issues, second-sourcing, and vendor quality escalations; author and drive supplier 8D or supplier corrective action requests to address corrective actions.
  • Support production issues, yield analysis, design-for-manufacturing feedback, and final assembly, test, and surface-mount technology line support; assist the contract manufacturer shift for US-market products.
  • Own the return merchandise authorization and refurbishment engineering path, and feed field-failure patterns back into design and verification.
  • Serve as first responder for sustaining issues across product lines, escalating to the owning pod when new design work is required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Background in low-power or battery-powered Internet of Things hardware; familiarity with cellular, global navigation satellite system, and Bluetooth Low Energy devices.
  • Hands-on experience with platform silicon such as ESP32-class microcontrollers, cellular modems, fuel gauges and chargers, inertial measurement units, and buck-boost regulators.
  • Mandarin language ability and/or China-based experience for contract manufacturer coordination.
  • Experience feeding sustaining insights into verification and design to prevent recurring issues.

About the company

Tive provides real-time visibility for supply chains by combining sensor trackers with a cloud software platform. The trackers collect data on location and conditions such as temperature, shock, light exposure, and humidity, then send it to the platform via the network (including a 5G-enabled option). The software lets customers actively track shipments, set custom alerts for conditions that exceed limits, and view historical data to spot trends. A 24/7 monitoring service is available to manage in-transit issues. The business model centers on sensor plus software, typically through a subscription or usage-based plan for access to the trackers and platform. Unlike some competitors, Tive emphasizes end-to-end real-time monitoring with both reusable and single-use trackers and proactive alerts, helping logistics and transportation customers improve control and optimize operations across global cargo movements.

What believers are saying

  • Tive Seal became globally available May 19, 2026, expanding the security product line.
  • Lightsmith's January 2025 $20M investment funds AI visibility and climate-resilience features.
  • NX Group partnered with Tive on March 20, 2025, validating enterprise distribution in Asia.

What critics are saying

  • project44 and FourKites dominate enterprise visibility, squeezing Tive on large multimodal deals.
  • Tive Seal launched May 19, 2026; hardware SKUs invite copycats and price compression.
  • If tracker economics deteriorate, Tive becomes a sensor vendor, not a durable software platform.

What makes Tive unique

  • Solo 5G trackers and Tive Seal combine condition sensing with tamper detection.
  • Tive Platform and 24/7 monitoring turn hardware signals into actionable shipment interventions.
  • By May 2026, Tive reached $100M run-rate across 1,300 customers in 190 countries.

Tive launches Bluetooth-enabled Seal for real-time cargo tampering detection globally

Tive, a supply chain visibility technology company, has launched the Tive Seal globally, a single-use Bluetooth-enabled cable lock providing real-time tamper detection for container and trailer doors. The device was developed in partnership with security seal specialist TydenBrooks. The Seal integrates with Tive's Solo 5G trackers and cloud platform to deliver instant alerts when security is compromised through cable cutting, forced entry or device damage. Data feeds directly into the Tive platform and existing Transportation Management Systems, enabling immediate response to potential cargo theft. More than 1,200 global shippers, logistics providers and retailers currently use Tive's technology. CEO Krenar Komoni said the Seal addresses increasingly sophisticated cargo theft by enabling detection before losses occur. The product is now commercially available worldwide through Tive's sales channels.
