Requirements
  • University education (undergraduate), with a focus on math and/or computer science
  • 3M to 6M+ programming experience in Python and SQL
  • High level of Proficiency at SQL and Python is required
  • Minor experience in database management and/or data analytics
  • Hands on experience of ETL tools (e.g. SSIS)
  • Strong skills in problem solving, logical thinking, process building and analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various functional support groups
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Possess good business acumen
  • Strong believer in quality and excellence
Responsibilities
  • Develop Front-end Tool (40%). Support the manager in identify tools/platforms that will assist with process enhancement for areas within Treasury (e.g. front end to SQL database, cash/ liquidity management platform, IRR management tool, trading etc.) using AI and related tools
  • Work with the treasury team to understand departmental needs (as it relates to automation)
  • Provide technical support in evaluating and coordinating the initiatives with regards to front-end application tools
  • Ensure Compliance to Data Governance (30%). Ensure all processes and associated controls are documented
  • Maintain a code library for regular/routine queries
  • Ensure compliance to change management guidelines
  • Develop business rules working with the business unit
  • Maintain and enhance Treasury’s existing SQL database (20%). Maintain and enhance existing Treasury’s databases
  • Ensure daily and monthly ETL processes run seamlessly
  • Complete database issue fixes on a timely basis
  • Develop new tables / processes for data related to new products or those that are not currently in the database
  • Departmental Data Support (10%). Liaise with internal (treasury) and external partners (within the Bank) in identifying data needs and ensure high level of service is maintained at all times
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience of visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI will be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience of Data Governance will be an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial market instruments is an asset

EQB appoints Daniel Rethazy as EVP to lead Personal Banking expansion and PC Financial integration

EQB Inc. has appointed Daniel Rethazy as Executive Vice President, Personal Banking, effective 6 April 2026. Rethazy will oversee a unified Personal Banking business integrating residential lending, deposits and the EQ Bank digital platform. Subject to regulatory approval, he will also manage products and channels from EQB's announced acquisition of PC Financial, including the long-term strategic relationship with Loblaw Companies for EQ Bank to become the exclusive banking partner for the PC Optimum programme. CEO Chadwick Westlake described Rethazy as "a generational talent in Canadian banking", noting his experience will accelerate growth for EQB's Personal Banking franchise. EQB posts Q1 adjusted diluted EPS of $2.26, up 48% q/q as efficiency ratio improves to 49.1%

EQB Inc reported first quarter 2026 results with adjusted diluted earnings per share of $2.26, up 48% quarter-over-quarter but down 24% year-over-year. Adjusted net income reached $85.2 million, whilst adjusted return on equity improved to 11.1%. The Canadian digital bank's efficiency ratio improved to 49.1% from 53.6% in the previous quarter, reflecting cost benefits from a strategic restructuring programme. Commercial lending loans under management grew 3% quarter-over-quarter and 19% year-over-year. EQ Bank added 26,000 new customers in the quarter, bringing total customers to 633,000. The company declared a dividend of $0.59 per share, up 16% year-over-year. EQB is progressing with its planned acquisition of PC Financial, having filed regulatory applications in January 2026. The company maintained a CET1 capital ratio of 13.6%.
