About the job

Requirements
  • Strong expertise in at least one of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Networking, Transport Layer Security, certificate management, identity and access management, and access control expertise.
  • Terraform experience is required, with familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Ansible desirable.
  • Docker and Kubernetes experience.
  • Comfort building and shipping maintainable tools in Python and Bash, including testing, scanning, and documentation.
  • Understanding of workflow engines running against remote compute, storage, and container runtimes.
  • Ability to conduct technical onboarding and pre-sales, elicit requirements, navigate ambiguity, and communicate credibly with scientists and DevOps engineers.
  • Ability to independently research unfamiliar problems and share knowledge with the team.
  • Ability to work through difficult technical problems and identify effective solutions.
  • Ability to resolve disagreements by identifying shared goals and shaping an aligned path forward.
  • Ability to provide a public code repository and a narrative explaining the repository, professional growth, and use of artificial intelligence without relinquishing judgment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead client implementations across cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments from requirements gathering through a working Seqera Platform deployment.
  • Deploy the infrastructure supporting Seqera Platform and its compute workloads, including networking, DNS, Transport Layer Security, private certificate authorities, identity and access management, secrets, container runtimes, and storage.
  • Guide client IT teams through infrastructure changes when direct account access is limited, while respecting security and compliance constraints.
  • Build repeatable and safe deployment tools with pre-flight checks, clear failures, tests, and documentation.
  • Partner with Sales and Scientific Development to shape solutions and run proof-of-concept deployments.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point and turn recurring client problems into lasting fixes with internal teams.
  • Explain technical recommendations and their rationale to scientists, bioinformaticians, client engineers, and IT or DevOps teams.
  • Review and improve artificial-intelligence-generated Terraform, scripts, runbooks, and diagrams so they are reliable and usable by less technical consumers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Multi-cloud expertise across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Exposure to high-performance computing schedulers such as SLURM or Grid Engine.
  • Familiarity with Helm.
  • Life sciences, bioinformatics, or scientific computing background.
  • Technical pre-sales experience.
  • Nextflow experience.
  • Startup experience.

Benchling utilizes Model Context Protocol to bridge scientific data with AI ecosystems.

Benchling utilizes Model Context Protocol to bridge scientific data with AI ecosystems. Published. April 30, 2026 Benchling has launched AI Connectors, a new integration suite built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) designed to unify fragmented scientific and enterprise data streams. The platform, which supports over 1,300 biotech organizations including Merck and Moderna, aims to eliminate the manual "copy-paste" workflows that currently plague R&D. By establishing a standardized interface, the connectors allow researchers to pull context directly from institutional tools like SharePoint, Snowflake, and Notion into their experimental records. This bidirectional data flow ensures that AI agents can access the full breadth of a project's history - ranging from experiment records to internal institutional knowledge - without losing critical scientific context. The new capabilities also extend to specialized research tools, allowing scientists to query a deep index of over 8 million biomedical papers via Elicit and GXL without leaving their digital notebooks. Furthermore, the Benchling MCP Server enables external AI models, such as Claude and ChatGPT, to query structured laboratory records directly, providing researchers with answers grounded in verified experimental data. By integrating bioinformatics workflows from Seqera and large datasets via Amazon S3, the update seeks to turn Benchling into a centralized hub for the entire R&D lifecycle. Following a successful beta phase, the company expects general availability of the full MCP offering in May 2026.
