- Maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, test, and repair protection and control equipment for fossil generation facilities.
- Test electromechanical and microprocessor protective relays.
- Test instrument transformers, transducers, meters, and associated equipment.
- Use schematic diagrams and system knowledge to troubleshoot and repair system protection and control equipment and relays.
- Complete documentation for projects and field work.
- Maintain plant protective relaying and associated control circuits, including testing, calibration, functional tests, troubleshooting, and installation of upgrades.
- Maintain generator relaying; main power transformer, unit auxiliary transformer, and start-up/standby transformer relaying; medium-voltage switchgear relaying and transfer schemes; and plant/switchyard interface relaying.
- Perform megawatt-hour metering calibrations and upgrade installations.
- Calibrate and test voltage, current, watt, var, and frequency transducers and associated equipment.
- Maintain ancillary equipment, including emergency bearing oil pumps and current transformer megger testing.
- Provide outage support and interface with plant instrumentation and controls personnel.
- Interface with outside contractors.
- Provide or support problem solving using troubleshooting skills and recorder data.
- Lead new-installation wiring verification, checkout, and functional testing.
- Revise and maintain associated drawings.
- Conduct diagnostic tests on generation-facility electrical equipment, including generator current transformers, potential transformers, and ancillary equipment.
- Install, calibrate, and maintain equipment associated with data acquisition and remote telemetry to support required ERCOT and NERC protocols.
Luminant generates electricity in Texas and also conducts mining, wholesale marketing and trading, and development activities as part of Vistra Energy. It owns about 17,000 MW of capacity, including nuclear and coal, and buys wind power to supply and balance its portfolio. It differs from competitors by combining a large, diversified generation fleet with active trading, mining, and development under a Texas-focused parent, rather than focusing on only generation or only retail. Its goal is to be a leading competitive energy provider in Texas by owning and operating a broad mix of assets and participating in wholesale markets to deliver reliable power.
