Requirements
  • An MD or DO degree is required.
  • Successful completion of an approved United States residency training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the American Osteopathic Association, or an equivalent body is required.
  • The candidate must be board eligible or board certified for OB/GYN practice in Michigan.
  • NRP, BLS, and EFM certification are required.
  • The candidate must obtain applicable clinical privileges through Munson Healthcare’s credentialing process before rendering services.
  • The role requires good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The role requires the ability to make quality, independent medical decisions.
  • The role requires time-management and organizational skills.
  • Employees must be vaccinated or have laboratory-confirmed immunity for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella, and must receive an annual influenza vaccine or have an approved medical or religious exemption.
Responsibilities
  • Provide a minimum of three 24-hour call shifts per month.
  • Provide triage or obstetric emergency department services.
  • Round in person on assigned and unassigned obstetric and gynecologic patients.
  • Provide gynecologic consultations for hospitalized patients and the main emergency department.
  • Provide surgical assistance for other obstetricians or gynecologists.
  • Provide generally unrestricted coverage depending on the hospital setup and availability of call rooms.
  • Provide call coverage and labor-and-delivery support, including interpretation of electronic fetal monitoring strips.
  • Remain on standby for deliveries.
  • Perform amniotomies and sonograms.
  • Place intrauterine pressure catheters and fetal scalp electrodes.
  • Monitor laboring patients for private obstetricians.
  • Use Oracle Health as the electronic health record.
