What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Design and develop battery management systems (BMS) tailored for automotive applications, ensuring high performance, reliability, and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and vehicle integration specialists to integrate battery electronics into battery systems and automotive platforms.
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate new technologies and components for integration into automotive battery systems.
- Develop and implement testing procedures to validate the performance, durability, and safety of battery systems under automotive operating conditions.
- Analyze and interpret test data to identify areas for improvement and optimization of battery system performance.
- Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to source components and ensure the quality and reliability of automotive battery system components.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in automotive battery technologies, electric vehicle (EV) architectures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams and external partners throughout the automotive battery system development lifecycle.
- Participate in design reviews, DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) activities, and supplier development activities to ensure robustness and reliability of battery systems.
- Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards and regulations such as ISO 26262, UN ECE regulations, and OEM-specific requirements.
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 4+ years of proven experience in the design and development of battery management systems (BMS) and associated electronics for automotive applications.
- Strong proficiency in electronics design tools.
- In-depth knowledge of automotive electrical architectures, CAN communication protocols, and automotive safety standards.
- Familiarity with BMS software layers
- Experience with automotive battery testing equipment and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with automotive-specific standards and regulations such as ISO 26262, UN ECE regulations, automotive ASIL ratings, and OEM specific electronic standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Prior experience in the automotive industry, particularly in electric vehicles (EVs) or hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), is a plus.

Pay Transparency
This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.
Initial base salary range = $130,000-$145,000
