Requirements
  • Enrollment in a four-year accredited program.
  • Completion of sophomore year by the start of the internship is preferred.
  • One year of work experience and/or extracurricular activity involvement is preferred.
  • Ability to fluently read and write English, accurately perform intermediate mathematical functions, and use all on-site resident management software functions.
  • Ability to address the needs of community members, prospects, and vendors.
  • Administrative, organizational, time-management, prioritization, customer-service, sales, accounting, computer, and internet skills.
  • Knowledge of state law as it relates to fair housing.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work extended or flexible hours and weekends as needed, including some nights and weekends.
  • Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, reaching, occasional climbing, computer work, phone work, and detecting auditory or visual alarms.
Responsibilities
  • Practice sales techniques.
  • Conduct in-house and offsite marketing, including developing marketing analysis reports.
  • Learn and use industry software programs.
  • Participate in property tours and site visits.
  • Learn maintenance-management proficiencies and techniques, including processing maintenance requests.
  • Provide customer service to residents and other stakeholders.
  • Complete market surveys.
  • Learn and demonstrate proficiency in the leasing process.
  • Process accounts receivable.
  • Provide clerical and phone support.
  • Maintain digital and paper records.
  • Maintain a community calendar of scheduled events.
  • Complete pre-inspections to ensure rent readiness.
  • Assist with legal eviction processes.
  • Practice critical-resolution decision-making and resolve resident complaints.
  • Review the financial move-out process.
  • Complete additional tasks or duties assigned by community leadership.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and career growth through the Fowler Internship Program.
  • Maintain regular attendance and actively participate in company functions and events as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Real Estate, Hospitality, or Property Management preferred.
  • Completion of sophomore year by the start of the internship.
  • One year of work experience and/or extracurricular activity involvement.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Professionalism, punctuality, dependability, organization, sound judgment, initiative, ability to learn, and positive working relationships with peers.
