Responsibilities
  • Provide Network Tier 3 support to Senior Leader Command, Control, Communications Systems-Airborne Operations, Mobility Air Forces Operations, Air Force Global Strike Command's E-4B aircraft, also known as the National Airborne Operations Center, and U.S. Navy E-6B Mercury aircraft.
  • Provide Network Tier 3 support to EACN Air to Global Information Grid Gateways, the EACN Systems Integration Laboratory, and the Government Security Operations Center.
  • Provide network analysis and design services to engineer, evaluate, and recommend new technologies to meet new EACN requirements and optimize network and system performance.
  • Assist the EACN Government Engineers with overarching oversight of the EACN platform, including configuration and change management, technical architecture, and current and future state planning.
  • Assist in troubleshooting network issues experienced at Joint Base Andrews and Joint Base Lewis-McChord operational Air to Global Information Grid Gateways and platforms that access the gateways.
  • Support EACN Air to Global Information Grid Gateway hardware configuration and installation requirements after approval by the EACN Government Engineers for site installation.
  • Establish and maintain the Air to Global Information Grid Gateway baseline configuration and Systems Integration Laboratory, including installation and functional testing of new software versions, Time Compliance Technical Orders, patches, Time Compliance Network Orders, and other applicable directives.
  • Implement modifications to the Air to Global Information Grid Gateway baseline configuration to support communications for additional Operational Support Aircraft/Executive Airlift, Mobility Air Forces, and Roll-On/Roll-Off assets as required.
  • Assist with installing, removing, or replacing equipment; making configuration changes; and training incoming government or contractor personnel on Air to Global Information Grid Gateway configuration standards at operational gateway sites.
  • Provide the EACN Government Engineers with a Network Installation and Configuration Guide before changes are made to the operational system, network, or gateway.
  • Ensure new hardware, software, and configuration changes are documented in the applicable deliverable format, installed, and tested in the Systems Integration Laboratory before changes are made at operational gateways.
  • Provide technical support to configure and maintain a test and evaluation gateway as an extension of the EACN Systems Integration Laboratory for troubleshooting, aircraft developmental test and evaluation, operational test and evaluation, and baseline configuration support.
  • Update local checklists, policies, diagrams, and documents related to the EACN as required by EACN Engineer guidance.
  • Perform network and system backups in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guide and EACN Government Engineer guidance.
  • Review and recommend configuration changes, track future upgrades, develop solutions, identify deficiencies, perform system changes, modify configurations as requested, and identify new requirements for the EACN Government Engineers.
  • Provide technical and configuration information to support actions for all three Air to Global Information Grid Gateways at Joint Base Andrews, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and Scott Air Force Base.
  • Create scripts, executables, graphs, and maps to configure and use networked computers.
  • Keep servers running by performing disk management, cleanup, backups, and approved updates and patches.
  • Configure and maintain servers for streamlined and secure connections to compatible network devices, and use Simple Network Management Protocol tools to gather statistics.
  • Provide technical and configuration information to support trend analysis on network availability, utilization, outages, and overall system health.
  • Review configurations, operating procedures, and troubleshooting procedures for routers, switches, firewalls, classless inter-domain routing configurations, variable-length subnet mask schemes, domain name services, network management services, encryption, and satellite transmissions.
  • Configure and implement in-depth fault tolerance for disaster recovery solutions on servers and network devices.
  • Support and sustain Voice over Internet Protocol capability installed in the Scott Systems Integration Laboratory and operational Air to Global Information Grid Gateway environments.
  • Design and implement technical solutions for integrating new network transport capabilities into the EACN when directed by the EACN Engineers.
