Job Description

The Sales Assistant supports the dining operation serving students, staff and guests of The Ohio State University; greets and serves customers; operates coffee equipment, makes gourmet coffee and specialty drinks; prepares and handles food and beverage orders; collects payment by cash, credit or Buck ID, prepares sales reports; takes daily inventory; stocks shelves, freezers, and coolers; maintains a clean and sanitary service and work area; position makes decisions based on established policies and procedures under the direction of the supervisor. This is a temporary staff position that is not to exceed 12 months.

Minimum Education Required

High School diploma or GED

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or GED; ability to communicate effectively; successful completion of a background check.

Desired: 0-2 years of front-line customer service experience; 1 year of experience taking and filling food orders; 1 year of experience brewing premium coffees and making espresso-based drinks; 1 year of cash handling experience; 1 year of experience in taking inventories; 1 year of experience in placing orders or requisitioning supplies.

Additional Information:

This position is located at Union Market and will support our Marketplace operations serving a range of items including paninis, wraps, burgers, quesadillas, taco’s, build your own pasta bowls and hot bar, sushi station, grain bowls, salad and fruit bars and build your own parfait bar.

The target hiring range for this position is $18.00/hour
