About the job
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Two years of experience in wood finishing are required.
- Basic knowledge of cabinet finishing processes and products is required.
- Working knowledge of company inspection and process specifications is required.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English is required.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift is required.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Prepare furniture for finishing and disassembly using blueprints, aircraft specifications, and design or engineering drawings.
- Perform repairs to various finished surfaces in the shop and aboard aircraft.
- Clean and polish blemishes to prepare aircraft for delivery.
- Apply finishes to furniture using spray equipment and manual or mechanical methods.
- Use sandpapers, polishes, adhesives, masking mediums, solvents, finish materials, hand tools, and power tools to disassemble and finish furniture.
- Comply with safety, 5S, housekeeping, and personal protective equipment policies, including procedures to protect aircraft interiors.
- Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off work.
- Work with lead and higher-skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements that increase safety and reduce cost, cycle time, and labor hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
- Experience applying Lean Six Sigma and other process-improvement techniques is desirable.
