Requirements
  • Experience working on diesel engines in a marine environment.
  • Availability for on-call and weekend work.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot diesel engines and related systems on the fleet of tugboats.
  • Troubleshoot engine problems, including excessive smoke, low power, engine vibrations associated with internal engine failure, fuel systems, and electronic control systems.
  • Repair major engine components within time frames that meet customer requirements.
  • Perform major in-frame overhauls within time frames that meet industry standards.
  • Service main bearings, gear train assemblies, cylinder packs, cylinder heads, turbochargers, and related components.
  • Perform rigging to lift engines for major service work.
  • Work overtime as required to repair customer vessels.
  • Lead a team in performing the listed maintenance and repair tasks.

  • Skilled in working on EMD, Caterpillar, John Deere, and Cummins engines.
  • A thorough understanding of marine diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and associated equipment.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach and strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
