About the Company

ISO New England

Nonprofit electric grid and wholesale market operator

ISO New England is an independent nonprofit that operates the regional power grid and administers wholesale electricity markets across New England. Its engineers coordinate power flows across the region's high-voltage transmission network, while analysts plan for future demand and changes in electricity resources. An independent board oversees the organization, which works with utilities, power producers, market participants and state officials. Service fees collected from wholesale market participants and transmission customers cover its operating costs under federal regulation. Established in 1997, ISO New England is headquartered in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
