Requirements
  • 5–7 years of experience in accessibility or accommodations-focused roles, technical writing, or assessment content writing, including at least 2–3 years specifically in accessibility- or accommodations-related work.
  • Demonstrated experience writing or editing, such as as a technical writer or editor.
  • Fluency in web-content accessibility, including WCAG and ARIA, and/or universal design.
  • Ability to prioritize and advance multiple projects independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and willingness to experiment with and adopt AI-driven solutions and independently learn and apply new digital tools.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Commitment to learning, welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving respectful feedback, and improving through iterative learning and user input.

Responsibilities
  • Write accessible test content, including image descriptions, for College Board assessments while maintaining high standards of quality and care.
  • Review and remediate test content to conform to WCAG before test packaging and publishing, ensuring tests meet Section 504 and ADA requirements.
  • Serve as an authority on accessible-content standards and adjudicate edge cases when guidance is unclear.
  • Review and remediate test-adjacent content, such as research studies and scoring guidelines, to conform to WCAG and ensure publications meet Section 504 and ADA requirements.
  • Conduct quality-control, accessibility, and usability reviews of tests and applications.
  • Produce error-free deliverables such as reader scripts and braille transcription notes as needed.
  • Write and maintain image-description guidelines, authoring standards and practices, documentation, presentations, and tools such as user personas.
  • Conduct application testing and troubleshooting.
  • Document processes and seek efficiency in the work.
  • Advocate for users of accessible technology.
  • Synthesize accessibility research, web standards, and user-experience findings into evidence-based recommendations to improve tools, processes, and authoring standards; present and advocate for those recommendations to program and organization leadership.
  • Represent Content Accessibility, including the team’s aims, standards, constraints, and risk considerations, in planning conversations with teams across College Board, ensuring accessibility is built into processes, tools, and assessments.
  • Educate and mentor others about universal design, accessibility, and accommodations through presentations and meaningful feedback on work.
  • Travel 1–2 times a year to the New York City or Reston, Virginia offices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) certification or Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) certification.
