About the Role
Ramp is one of the fastest growing startups in history, and that’s only been possible because of the insane caliber of our people. To meet our ambitious goals we need all Ramplings to be in sync and excited about the journey we’re all on. That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for our first Employee Communications hire at Ramp, reporting to the Head of Communications. This role comes with a lot of freedom and responsibility. You’ll have the opportunity to build from the ground up and take ideas from concept to reality.
We’re looking for someone experienced in building and scaling employee communications functions before, ideally at a high-growth startup. That said, while experience is valued, first principles and creative thinking are even more so. We’re looking for someone who wants to take a best practice (e.g., All Hands) and put a new spin on it. Someone who can communicate sensitive topics in a way that doesn’t come off as corporate jargon. Someone who is constantly experimenting rather than relying on the tried and true.
The person in this role will have a high level of autonomy and act as a trusted advisor to our executive team. You should be comfortable leading through influence and with people of all styles. In a meeting, if the employee experience is not top of mind, you are the voice to change that.
What You’ll Do
Develop and execute an employee communications strategy that builds and fosters trust in Ramp’s purpose and journey
Create unique moments for Ramplings to come together in person and virtually, inspiring pride in what we’re building together
Own Ramp’s bi-weekly All Hands – and scale to other offices / virtual setting.
Partner closely with Comms, People, Finance/IR, and the Executive team on company-wide communications and initiatives
Serve as a trusted advisor to our Executive team, helping them more effectively communicate across their teams and identify an effective, authentic communication style
Evaluate tools and systems to strengthen solutions for keeping Ramplings connected, and define a channel strategy for company-wide communications
Build towards
Owning the talent brand – including content, awards, events, awareness campaigns
Resources you’ll have
Design and event support from the internal team; if more is needed, we can look to outside support
Other resources need to be determined by the person in the role
What You Need
8+ years experience in communications or related fields, with at least 5 of those focused on employee communications
Succinct writing skills that infuse personality and humanity (you write like people talk!).
Grace with a backbone – you can work with anyone and aren’t afraid to stand up and disagree
A creative spirit who can story-tell across mediums, including video, visual design, and the written word
Nice to Haves
Experience in video production, editing, or graphic design
Experience creating talent brand programs
Experience taking a company public
Experience in change management
Benefits (for U.S.-based full-time employees)
100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you
Partially covered for your dependents
One Medical annual membership
401k (including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp)
Flexible PTO
Fertility HRA (up to $5,000 per year)
WFH stipend to support your home office needs
Wellness stipend
