Requirements
  • A Master's degree from an accredited institution in Education, Special Education, or a related field is required.
  • Two years of experience working with and teaching students with intellectual disabilities are required.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficiency with Microsoft Office are required.
  • Teaching certification or a license in special education is required.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position is required.
  • The ability to present to large groups is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide opportunities for career exploration and education, career advising and planning, job-search skills and strategies, on-site job coaching, networking and interviewing skills, internship and employment connections, and five-year follow-up.
  • Oversee all internship placements and supervision of internships for R.I.S.E. program participants.
  • Work with community agencies to facilitate job placements for R.I.S.E. program completers.
  • Meet face to face, by phone, and virtually with program participants to assist them in obtaining experiential learning opportunities or employment.
  • Promote employment of R.I.S.E. students on campus and in the community.
  • Serve as a liaison to employers and agency representatives and create and maintain collaborative relationships with participating and potential employers.
  • Teach professional career development, career seminar, and internship courses as instructor of record, totaling six credits in the Fall semester and six credits in the Spring semester.
  • Educate students about access to internships and employment opportunities and provide career counseling.
  • Participate in administering policies and procedures to optimize processes and ensure compliance.
  • Collect and analyze career development and internship data and statistics with program leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Conduct workshops, career events, and presentations.
  • Attend assigned Florida Center for Students with Unique Abilities webinars and annual in-person meetings.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
