Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent certification is required.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is required within one year of hiring.
  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician is required.
  • Current knowledge and required certification must be maintained as established by federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and in other Pharmacy Department duties.
  • Engage patients, provide applicable counseling, answer questions, and resolve patient issues and concerns.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Identify patients requiring medication reviews and schedule appointments.
  • Obtain and document pertinent medication, laboratory, and other clinical data.
  • Complete initial medication reconciliation by comparing medication orders with existing medication records to eliminate omissions and duplications.
  • Assist patients with intake forms and verify the accuracy of patient information.
  • Document medication-management interventions.
  • Communicate professionally with the pharmacy team and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with quality-improvement projects.
  • Document activities and enter patient data into the appropriate database or software.
  • Manage incoming emails, faxes, calls, and mail concerning patient questions, support needs, outreach, information verification, and information requests.
  • Stock shelves, assist with inventory control, and order pharmacy supplies.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
  • Correct and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription-service programs and perform other assigned clerical duties.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
  • File claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged prescription drugs.
  • Deliver customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Multilingual ability is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are preferred.
