Requirements
- High school graduation is required.
- At least two years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Effective verbal and written English communication, organization, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of building and fire codes as they pertain to continuing-care homes.
- Ability to work collaboratively in teams and communicate respectfully with others.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that all required checks are executed, promptly logged, and documented.
- Maintain the building in a safe and operable condition.
- Maintain the building envelope and oversee the grounds.
- Execute work orders and preventive maintenance using the Maintenance Care computer program.
- Paint vacant suites and perform touch-ups in common areas.
- Prioritize items needing attention and repair.
- Perform routine, scheduled, and emergency building maintenance.
- Support the fire safety program for the home.
- Clear ice and snow from sidewalks, patios, and all exit areas in winter by shoveling, sanding, and salting as required.
- Work Monday to Friday or as scheduled by the Site Leader.
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret building drawings and codes.
- WHMIS training and Occupational Health and Safety certifications.
