Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience in Machine Learning Engineering, ML Evaluation, Software Engineering, Data Science, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience developing production-quality software, machine learning systems, data pipelines, or evaluation infrastructure.
  • Experience developing or evaluating large language models, Generative AI, Conversational AI, natural language processing, recommendation systems, or other machine-learning-driven products.
  • Experience designing automated machine learning evaluation frameworks, metrics, benchmarks, datasets, or experimentation methodologies.
  • Understanding of modern large language model application architectures, including prompting, embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, and agentic workflows.
  • Experience with model-based evaluation techniques and an understanding of the strengths and limitations of approaches such as large language model-as-a-judge.
  • Experience with Human-in-the-Loop evaluation, annotation, or data-quality workflows.
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, experimentation, sampling, and measurement methodologies.
  • Experience performing model error analysis, failure analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Ability to work effectively across Machine Learning, Engineering, Product, Quality, and Data teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop automated evaluation frameworks and pipelines for AI-powered products.
  • Define evaluation methodologies and quality metrics across dimensions such as accuracy, relevance, groundedness, completeness, consistency, instruction following, and task completion.
  • Build and maintain high-quality evaluation datasets, including golden datasets, benchmark sets, regression suites, adversarial scenarios, and production-derived test sets.
  • Develop Auto Eval capabilities that enable teams to rapidly evaluate models, prompts, retrieval systems, agents, and end-to-end AI experiences.
  • Design and implement model-based evaluation approaches, including large language model-as-a-judge, while developing appropriate calibration and validation methodologies.
  • Develop Human-in-the-Loop evaluation approaches for complex or subjective quality dimensions where automated evaluation alone is insufficient.
  • Define evaluation rubrics, annotation guidelines, grading criteria, and quality standards in partnership with product teams, domain experts, and annotation teams.
  • Build mechanisms to calibrate automated evaluators against human judgment and measure evaluator consistency and reliability.
  • Evaluate end-to-end AI systems, including retrieval, context construction, prompts, model responses, tool use, application programming interfaces, and downstream product experiences.
  • Develop evaluation methodologies for multi-turn conversations, personalization, recommendations, tool use, reasoning, and agentic task execution.
  • Perform detailed error analysis and failure-mode investigation to identify opportunities for model, prompt, retrieval, dataset, and product improvements.
  • Build reusable evaluation infrastructure, application programming interfaces, dashboards, and developer tooling that can scale across multiple AI products and teams.
  • Integrate evaluation into development and continuous integration/continuous delivery workflows, enabling automated regression detection, quality gates, and release-readiness assessments.
  • Connect offline evaluation results with production signals to continuously improve evaluation coverage and product quality.
  • Partner closely with Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Product, Quality Engineering, Human Interface, and Data Science teams throughout research, development, evaluation, launch, and continuous improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience building evaluation infrastructure for production-scale large language model or Generative AI applications.
  • Experience evaluating retrieval-augmented generation, conversational systems, AI agents, personalization, recommendations, or multimodal AI.
  • Experience building golden datasets, regression suites, automated quality gates, and continuous evaluation pipelines.
  • Experience integrating machine learning evaluation into continuous integration/continuous delivery and production release processes.
  • Experience with prompt evaluation, model comparison, experiment tracking, and AI observability.
  • Experience evaluating multilingual AI experiences across languages, locales, and markets.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI evaluation, including robustness, safety, bias, and adversarial testing.
  • Experience developing internal machine learning platforms, developer tooling, or self-service evaluation capabilities used across multiple teams.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and distributed machine learning or data-processing infrastructure.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.

Morgan Stanley sets $360 Apple target on AI innovation and 690M upgrade opportunity

Morgan Stanley analyst Erik Woodring has maintained an overweight rating on Apple with a $360 price target, citing accelerated innovation at the company's September product event. Bank of America cuts Apple price target to $370 after iPhone Duo foldable launch

Bank of America cut its Apple price target to $370 from $380 whilst maintaining a Buy rating, following the iPhone Duo launch under new CEO John Ternus. Analyst Wamsi Mohan cited lower-than-expected iPhone pricing pressuring gross margins amid elevated component costs. The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable phone, features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both supporting Dynamic Island and 120Hz ProMotion. Starting at $1,999, it launches 23 October with pre-orders opening 16 October. Mohan called the foldable the event's standout, noting its potential to reach mainstream audiences through features like dual capture in FaceTime. Citi described it as Apple's biggest new hardware category since the Watch and AirPods.

Apple Watch can record 15 seconds of conversation without both speakers' consent

Apple's new Watch Series 12 features Audio Intelligence capabilities that can record conversations without consent from all parties. The Live Rewind function captures 15 seconds of conversation and converts it to text after the wearer double-presses the Digital Crown. Whilst the watch emits an audible tone to alert nearby people, this doesn't constitute legal consent in 11 US states requiring all-party consent for recordings. The watch processes audio through its S11 chip and nearby iPhone, discarding the original recording after creating text. Siri Recap summarises conversations throughout the day without retaining audio or identifying speakers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation criticised the feature, arguing people lack practical means to consent or decline recording. EFF's Adam Schwartz warned the technology threatens conversational privacy and spontaneity, urging users to reconsider using it out of respect for others.

AT&T CEO dismisses $2K Apple iPhone Duo as 'not new', doubts foldable will break niche status

AT&T CEO John Stankey expressed scepticism about Apple's newly unveiled foldable iPhone Duo, priced at $1,999. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Stankey said the device is "not new", noting that Android manufacturers like Samsung and Google have sold foldables for years without broad market success. "What we've seen is that it tends to function more as a specific niche type application as opposed to [being] broadly accepted," Stankey said. He acknowledged Apple could prove him wrong but doubted it would change market dynamics significantly. IDC analyst Francisco Jeronimo estimates foldables represent only about 2.2% of global smartphone sales in 2026. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 retails for $1,899.

Apple's foldable iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, but will shoppers actually buy it?

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999 to $3,199. The device features a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen, allowing users to run two apps simultaneously. The Duo costs $800 more than Apple's new iPhone 18 Pro. CEO John Ternus called it "the most transformational change to iPhone since the original". Whilst Samsung, Huawei, Google, and Motorola already sell foldables, these devices remain niche. IDC expects global foldable shipments to reach 22.9 million units in 2026, representing just over 2% of the smartphone market. However, analysts believe Apple's entry could shift the landscape. IDC forecasts Apple will ship over 17 million foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. The company's large customer base may drive broader adoption of the expensive new format.
