Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal engineering and 15 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in computational fluid dynamics modeling for internal flow and electronic cooling applications.
  • Proven experience instrumenting thermal tests and developing test plans.
  • Strong communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and the ability to work through challenging compromises to achieve optimal thermal solutions.
Responsibilities
  • Own thermal architecture, design, and validation for next-generation network switches and integrated rack solutions.
  • Work across mechanical, electrical, hardware, power, and system engineering teams to develop cooling solutions for high-performance networking platforms supporting artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and cloud workloads.
  • Use thermal simulation, laboratory testing, characterization, and data-driven analysis to evaluate product concepts, drive thermal feasibility assessments, and optimize system performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Own key thermal technologies and roadmaps for future generations of networking, optics, and rack-scale infrastructure solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to align on product requirements, performance metrics, and boundary conditions.
  • Develop approaches to evaluate all thermal aspects of product concepts while considering prototype availability, product schedules, and thermal risk.
  • Develop thermal solutions internally or with vendor partners, including heat sinks, cold plates, air movers, air shrouds, sealing, thermal interface materials, venting, and thermal controls.
  • Present findings to thermal engineers and management to identify problem areas and opportunities to improve design for cost, power, and cooling efficiency.
  • Follow existing product-development practices and procedures, and develop or improve them where necessary or desirable.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with CREO.
  • Experience with air and liquid cooling in the server or network electronics industry.
  • Knowledge of cooling requirements for GPUs, CPUs, NPUs, or rack L11.
