Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of magnetic resonance imaging procedures and safety issues, organization, communication, computer use, and multitasking is required.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of situations simultaneously is required.
  • The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds, and carry items up to 20 pounds.
  • The employee must work in a strong magnetic field and may be exposed to viruses, disease, infection, traumatic situations, ionizing radiation, and sharps.
Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures at a level patients can understand.
  • Provide appropriate patient care, practice sterile techniques, and follow universal precautions.
  • Maintain appropriate records and document patients’ clinical and technical history, patient and examination information, and charging functions using computer systems.
  • Ensure required consent, history, and screening forms are completed and verified before procedures are performed.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with healthcare professionals, patient referral sources, patients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff, and the public.
  • Manage time to balance patient treatment needs, documentation, and educational requirements.
  • Comply with magnetic resonance imaging safety protocols and ensure patient screening questionnaires are properly reviewed.
  • Maintain professional and concerned interactions with patients, families, visitors, physicians, staff, and the public.
  • Remain current with changes in healthcare delivery, professional standards, regulatory and accrediting requirements, and organizational needs.
  • Support professional growth and development through educational programs and review of current professional literature.
  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of hospital and radiology information systems and Picture Archiving and Communication systems.
  • Participate in quality initiatives to assess and improve services and compliance with regulatory requirements, and report results to appropriate administrative levels.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience working in magnetic resonance imaging is preferred.
