Requirements
  • Applicants must pass all drug and alcohol screenings required by the University of Wyoming Drug and Alcohol Policy, including a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Applicants must hold a valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
  • Applicants must be high school graduates or have a GED and one year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old or turn 21 within the first month of hire.
  • Applicants must hold or obtain within one month of hire TSI certification, First Aid/CPR certification, and Supervisor Harassment training.
  • Applicants must have one year of customer service experience.
  • Applicants must submit a complete application including a cover letter, resume, three references, and an availability matrix.
  • Applicants must be available for Thursday through Monday SafeRide shifts, primarily late afternoon and night shifts, including summer months.
  • Applicants must be available to work on campus.
Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the Transit Supervisor by assisting with supervision and coordination of SafeRide operations and filling in as Demand Response Supervisor when needed.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment inventory and assign equipment resources to employees.
  • Coordinate, enforce, and document mandated federal and state regulations and department policies related to the transit system and safety.
  • Complete personnel performance documentation and compliance checks.
  • Train new drivers and dispatchers and ensure they are prepared to perform their duties independently.
  • Respond to and investigate vehicle-related accidents and incidents.
  • Respond to and investigate passenger-related complaints and incidents.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Assist with supervision of other Demand Response areas, including Transit Dispatch and Paratransit operations.
  • Perform backup dispatching and driving duties as needed.
  • Maintain ridership and other transit-related data as needed.
  • Assist with community outreach and resource fairs as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demand response transit experience is preferred but not required.
  • Completion of the Transportation Services probation period is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act policies and procedures.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult or stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience handling confidential information.
  • One year of previous supervisory experience is preferred.
