Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and one year of relevant experience, an associate's degree and three years of relevant experience, four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Clinical research coordination experience, including conducting multiple complex clinical trials and maintaining regulatory documents with minimal oversight.
  • Experience using electronic medical record systems.
  • Experience independently submitting initial Institutional Review Board submissions, modifications, and/or annual reviews.
  • Clinical skills including phlebotomy, specimen processing, electrocardiograms, and vital-sign measurements.
  • Knowledge of clinical research regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining effective and efficient.
  • Ability to collaborate with and support colleagues in a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in person on campus with research participants and human biological samples, stand and walk throughout campus for extended periods, and attend community events, including occasional weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Recruit research volunteers by determining interest and eligibility, explaining complex study designs and procedures in accessible language, creating recruitment materials, screening and enrolling eligible participants, and retaining participants throughout study protocols.
  • Coordinate multiple complex therapeutic interventional trials with minimal supervision while adhering to protocol timelines and participant-safety requirements.
  • Coordinate scheduling, preparation, and conduct of complex study visits involving multiple staff and hospital services.
  • Ensure completion of study assessments and procedures according to protocol and obtain informed consent.
  • Collect, process, store, and ship laboratory samples.
  • Conduct or assist with clinical study procedures, including vital-sign collection, electrocardiograms, lumbar punctures, and skin punch biopsies.
  • Communicate with study teams, participants, sponsors, contract research organizations, investigators, Institutional Review Boards, and other departments.
  • Prepare for and coordinate monitoring visits by contract research organizations and federal agency representatives.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and organize study documents and materials according to Good Clinical Practice guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory packages to local and central Institutional Review Boards, including initial submissions, modifications, annual reviews, protocol deviations, and adverse-event reports.
  • Assist the Clinical Trials Manager with clinical trial start-up, including site-selection visits, Institutional Review Board submissions, OnCore setup, vendor and department collaboration, case-report-form creation, and related tasks.
  • Complete required case report forms accurately and on time during study visits.
  • Enter data into electronic data-capture systems within sponsor-required timelines and resolve sponsor or monitor data queries.
  • Assist with tracking and reviewing study billing, hospital charges, invoiceable assessments and procedures, and preparation of invoices.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience using the Epic medical record system.
  • Familiarity with OHSU Institutional Review Board procedures.
  • Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative courses in Good Clinical Practice, Human Subjects Research, and Responsible Conduct of Research.
  • Society of Clinical Research Associates Certified Clinical Research Professional certification.
