Requirements
  • At least 1 year of professional hands-on experience in mechanical service work or mechanical builds; internship experience is applicable.
  • Hands-on experience debugging, testing, and validating mechanical systems using common hand and power tools.
  • All persons hired must verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Assemble, build, test, and verify battery and power conversion hardware.
  • Work with the engineering team to refine the speed and quality of production steps.
  • Travel to remote desert sites for solar panel and battery installation as needed.
  • Help develop and write installation instructions for future field teams to shorten installation times.
  • Work with multidisciplinary design, test, and production engineering teams to refine new power electronics and energy storage hardware.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with solar arrays as input power sources.
  • Familiarity with lithium-ion battery handling, safety, and usage.

Early Tesla and SpaceX investor Steve Jurvetson is backing Ambrosia Energy, a startup founded by former SpaceX executives Ben Longmier and Sara Spangelo. The company aims to solve artificial intelligence's growing electricity demand through off-grid solar and battery systems for data centres. Jurvetson's venture firm DFJ Growth announced the investment on Wednesday. Ambrosia targets electricity costs of around $100 per megawatt-hour with 99.9% availability and deployment within one year. The startup vertically integrates land acquisition, permitting, engineering, battery manufacturing, and construction. Its system combines solar power with 24-hour lithium-iron-phosphate battery storage, using a proprietary installation method designed to deploy panels 12 times faster than conventional approaches. Spangelo and Longmier previously co-founded Swarm Technologies, which SpaceX acquired in 2021. Ambrosia's next project targets 200 MW of solar capacity delivering 20 MW of continuous power.
