Uber is a global platform that moves people and goods by connecting riders with drivers and delivery partners. It offers ride-hailing, food and goods delivery, and freight services to consumers, businesses, and logistics clients. Its product works through a mobile app where users request a ride or a delivery, and drivers or couriers accept the request; Uber takes a percentage of the fare, delivery fee, or service charge as revenue. Safety features include driver background checks and real-time verification to protect riders and drivers. Uber differentiates itself by operating across multiple transportation and logistics services on a single platform with a large worldwide network, plus a focus on flexible earning opportunities for its drivers and couriers. The company aims to expand beyond traditional ride-hailing into broader transportation and freight solutions, continually reimagining how people and goods move in a global marketplace.

Uber secures $7.7B credit facility and term loans to fund Delivery Hero takeover

Uber Technologies has entered into new credit facilities to support its takeover bid for Delivery Hero. On 6 August 2026, the company signed a senior unsecured term loan agreement with Morgan Stanley and other lenders, reducing commitments under an existing bridge facility by €4 billion. The funds will finance Uber's voluntary public takeover offer for Delivery Hero, refinance the target company's debt, and cover transaction costs. The term facility includes customary covenants such as a minimum interest coverage ratio and rating-linked pricing. On the same date, Uber also secured a new $7.7 billion senior unsecured revolving credit agreement with Bank of America and other lenders, replacing its 2024 revolver. The new facility runs until 2031 and remains undrawn except for transferred letters of credit, enhancing the company's liquidity for general corporate purposes.

Gary Black backs Uber over Tesla and Waymo to lead autonomous ride-hailing market

Gary Black of The Future Fund has named Uber Technologies as his top pick to lead the autonomous ride-hailing market, ahead of Waymo and Tesla. Black dismissed comparisons to Blockbuster, citing Uber's "open source supplier model" as key to its advantage. Uber reported second-quarter 2026 revenue of $14.19 billion, up 12% year-on-year, slightly missing analyst estimates of $14.24 billion. Earnings per share matched consensus at 81 cents. GAAP income from operations rose 30% to $1.89 billion. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said Uber expects autonomous ride-hailing in 15 cities by year-end, with Rivian robotaxis launching in San Francisco and Miami in 2028. Nvidia-backed robotaxis will debut in Los Angeles and San Francisco next year.
