Requirements
  • Completion of a Master of Science degree in a field of science or engineering, or a bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in measurement processes, development, and maintenance.
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of software applications used in an office or laboratory setting, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and scientific programming.
  • Proven high-quality customer service interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Proven aptitude for attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with electrical measurement tools and practices, ideally including radio frequency and microwave measurement.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills, including the ability to ask probing questions and anticipate customer needs.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with software automation.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Research Associate, TQT research staff, and students in conducting research into quantum technologies and devices.
  • Support general test and measurement systems, specifically cryogenic measurement platforms.
  • Perform training, maintenance, and testing in coordination with the Research Associate.
  • Develop tools and processes for advancing use cases for quantum technologies in coordination with the Research Associate.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot research equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of general research materials and supplies.
  • Participate in experiments or research work by performing assigned tasks such as data collection.
  • Operate and maintain the helium liquefaction system, prepare cryogenic dewars for use, and monitor cryogen levels across experiments.
  • Maintain and develop pumps, vacuum and chiller systems, and mechanical, electrical, and optical systems.
  • Support health and safety practices in laboratory spaces.
  • Organize and maintain documentation, operating procedures, experimental records, and data, including electronic files and backups.
  • Assist in analyzing and interpreting experiment results or research data by assembling, compiling, and summarizing statistical and other data.
  • Participate in organizing users of TQT shared resources.
  • Participate in developing research-related documents, including standard operating procedures.
  • Provide onboarding on policies and procedures and equipment operation.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties related to TQT.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum one year of demonstrated experience in a research academic environment.
  • Minimum one year of experience with cryogenic measurement tools, or significant experience with relevant electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Software automation development experience.
