Layer N provides modular rollups on Ethereum to scale financial applications. It offers hyperperformant, customized rollups and a suite of APIs to enable DeFi platforms, financial institutions, and developers to build high-performance dApps with improved scalability and user experience. The product works by bundling multiple transactions into rollups that settle on Ethereum’s Proof-of-Stake network, using a shared communication layer to unify liquidity and improve capital efficiency. Security comes from leveraging Ethereum’s PoS chain. The company differentiates itself from competitors through its focus on modular, customizable rollups and shared liquidity infrastructure designed for high-throughput financial applications, aiming to deliver centralized-finance-level performance in a decentralized framework. Layer N’s goal is to achieve performance on par with centralized finance networks while preserving the decentralized ethos of blockchain technology.

Founders Fund-backed Layer 1 blockchain N1 has agreed to acquire decentralised derivatives platform 01 Exchange in an all-equity and token deal expected to close within six months. The acquisition brings 01 Exchange, which has processed over $3 billion in trading volume and attracted more than 25,000 users, under direct ownership as N1 prepares to launch its next-generation blockchain infrastructure. The move supports N1's vertically integrated network strategy, consolidating infrastructure, liquidity and its flagship trading application. CEO Dima Romanov said the integration will enable faster development and deeper liquidity. The acquisition precedes the planned launch of N1 2.0, which will introduce request-for-quote markets, vaults, equities and additional on-chain financial products. Existing 01 Exchange users will not need to migrate assets.
This week, 20 blockchain startups raised a total of $72.8 million. The largest deal was Gnosis HQ's $15 million M&A financing. Notable seed rounds include XP raising $6.2 million, KYD Labs $7.1 million, Nirvana Labs $6 million, Turtle Club $6.2 million, DoubleUp $4 million, and Perpl $9.3 million. Other projects like SpaceComputer, Taker Protocol, and UXLINK also secured funding, though amounts were undisclosed.
SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Layer N, a hyper-performant Layer 2 (L2) execution network, announced the launch of its testnet. Layer N first came out of stealth in September 2023 with a $5 million funding round backed by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund. Layer N is a novel execution layer designed as a network of rollups that share a unified communication and liquidity layer. Layer N aims to become the execution layer for thousands of hyper-optimized rollups, while maintaining a monolithic like UX for end-users.The public testnet is a unique opportunity for the community, users, and developers to experience first-hand how a fast and interconnected execution layer such as Layer N operates and how increased compute and shared liquidity can meaningfully enable a new class of on-chain applications. By designing the network for high throughput, low latency, and high composability/capital efficiency, Layer N aims to rival existing centralized networks. One of the first examples of a fully optimized rollup Virtual Machine (VM) deployed in Layer N is NordVM, an exchange-optimized engine that can already achieve lower execution latencies, higher throughput with TPS figures upwards of 100,000, and negligible transaction fees.Dima Romanov, CEO and Co-Founder of Layer N commented on the news, "Today marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of Layer N as we unveil our much-anticipated testnet phase 1
