Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience in a management role within a housekeeping department in a luxury hotel.
  • Ability to respond to basic guest queries and complaints.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse team, including experience with performance management principles.
  • Confident communication skills internally and externally.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize the workload of self and others.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Intermediate to proficient understanding of computer systems such as Opera Cloud, Unifocus Property Management System, Adaco, Fourth Hospitality, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Commercial awareness, including the ability to plan and work within an agreed budget.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with other team members and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and partner with others to promote teamwork.
  • Ability to stand or walk for a minimum eight-hour shift.
  • Ability to twist, tow, push or pull, reach, bend, climb, and carry objects as necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to work inside and outside throughout the year as needed based on business volumes.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain, direct, and develop the highest standards of cleanliness in rooms, social and wellness areas, and colleagues’ facilities.
  • Maintain and direct inspections of all property areas in accordance with standards.
  • Work with the Executive Housekeeper and team to identify opportunities to improve management tools and departmental practices.
  • Identify and implement improvements to departmental processes.
  • Ensure daily housekeeping section areas are prepared and completed and deliver a luxury, individually tailored guest experience.
  • Oversee the issue of housekeeping equipment and maintain strict control and security procedures.
  • Plan and control periodic preventative cleaning and weekly or monthly project schedules for apartments, public areas, and back-of-house areas, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of departmental systems, including Opera, Unifocus, Adaco, Fourth Hospitality, LQA, and the health and safety system.
  • Chair daily departmental briefings and participate in housekeeping team meetings.
  • Ensure the team understands the team and company vision, engage with team members regularly, and encourage feedback.
  • Listen to and act on feedback.
  • Meet with VIP and long-stay guests to introduce available housekeeping services and agree on additional housekeeping requirements.
  • Ensure guest queries and complaints are handled the same day and inform the Executive Housekeeper, Rooms Director, and General Manager.
  • Ensure induction and training for new colleagues and agency team members is completed, including performance standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Conduct on-the-job training with colleagues to maintain standards.
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper with preparing and conducting colleague appraisals.
  • Manage day-to-day performance standards and maximize team performance.
  • Assist with team development plans, identify training needs, and increase team engagement.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and conduct stocktakes of operating supplies and equipment, including linen, cleaning supplies, and guest amenities.
  • Ensure proper storage of operating supplies and equipment and fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Assist with housekeeping-related orders while managing costs and resources within the area of accountability.
  • Assist with month-end reports, profit and loss reports, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper in producing departmental rotas.
  • Liaise with contractors as necessary.
  • Ensure security issues are reported to the Executive Housekeeper, Rooms Director, and General Manager.
  • Ensure team compliance with internal rules, policies, standard operating procedures, health and safety requirements, and data protection requirements.
  • Contribute as a member of the company’s management team.
  • Support effective interdepartmental cooperation through leadership by example.
