About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; Petroleum Engineering is strongly preferred, while Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering may be considered with relevant subsurface experience.
  • At least five years of experience in reservoir, planning, or operations roles within the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience with injection, disposal, waterflood, or pressure transient analysis.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory framework governing Class II injection wells in Texas and New Mexico.
  • A solid understanding of oil and gas production, processing, and transportation.
  • Experience building forecasts and communicating uncertainty to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and analytics, with experience using business intelligence tools such as Spotfire or Power BI.
  • Strong SQL and Python skills.
Responsibilities
  • Deliver produced water volume forecasts across business units and basins.
  • Maintain type curves and reconcile forecasts against actual performance.
  • Partner with Analytics on forecasting tools and with customers and Operations on schedule updates.
  • Build and maintain injection capacity forecasts across the disposal portfolio.
  • Analyze injection performance trends and diagnose issues before they become capacity shortfalls.
  • Evaluate the subsurface viability of new disposal locations, expansions, and growth opportunities.
  • Support the subsurface technical content of permit applications and amendments filed with state regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare technical exhibits and support requests for additional data or hearings as needed.
  • Maintain a technical record that holds up under regulatory and third-party review.
  • Evaluate containment risk for existing and proposed disposal wells.
  • Assess induced seismicity exposure and support monitoring and response practices.
  • Identify geomechanical constraints early enough to inform well placement.
  • Review customer development schedules and build risked volume cases with clear assumptions.
  • Perform inventory and capacity analysis to identify constraints and the timing of capital needs.
  • Provide technical support on new agreements, acquisitions, and diligence work.
  • Serve as a technical resource in customer conversations about long-term capacity.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams on efficiency and asset optimization.
  • Support quarterly and annual volume budgets with Finance.
  • Deliver regular forecast and performance updates to management, including variance explanations.
  • Create reports, KPIs, and dashboards that improve visibility across operations and engineering.
  • Contribute data-driven insights in planning and strategy meetings.
  • Review and elevate the work of technicians and analysts on the team.
  • Improve processes through better models, better data hygiene, and less manual reporting.
Desired Qualifications
  • Produced water disposal or Class II injection experience in the Permian Basin.
  • A background in geomechanics or induced seismicity.
  • Experience with regulatory hearings or technical testimony.
  • Experience supporting commercial negotiations or acquisition diligence.
  • Reservoir simulation or injection modeling experience.
  • Field-facing experience at disposal or recycling facilities.

About the company

WaterBridge runs integrated produced-water infrastructure for oil and gas producers, moving the water brought to the surface alongside hydrocarbons. Its operations center on the Delaware Basin in West Texas and New Mexico, with additional networks in the Eagle Ford and Arkoma basins. Pipelines carry water to handling facilities for underground disposal or recycling, and customers pay handling fees and buy water for drilling and completions. The group also runs oilfield waste facilities under Desert Environmental for non-hazardous waste disposal and reclamation. Founded as an operating business in 2015, WaterBridge is based in Houston, Texas; its public holding company was formed in 2025.

What believers are saying

  • Operating scope expands: the June 2026 Ranger acquisition added 30 pipeline miles and 70,000 barrels of daily disposal capacity.
  • Profit strengthens stability: WaterBridge's group earned $14.6 million in the June 2026 quarter, up from $9.5 million.
  • Contracted demand supports stability: March 2026 disclosures detail Devon's 7.5 years of minimum water volumes starting April 2027.

What critics are saying

  • Job stability rests on concentrated demand: five customers supplied 51% of water-related revenue for the year ending December 2025.
  • Debt weighs on earnings: WaterBridge's group recorded $22.7 million net interest expense for the quarter ending June 2026.
  • Disposal faces government claims: Texas sought $6.9 million from WaterBridge's subsidiary for orphan-well plugging in January 2026.

What makes WaterBridge unique

  • WaterBridge reports America's largest integrated produced-water network, with about 2,500 pipeline miles at December 2025.
  • LandBridge gives WaterBridge surface infrastructure rights and dedicated underground disposal space in exchange for royalties and usage payments.
  • WaterBridge supervises assets remotely: March 2026 materials describe over 800 live cameras and over 10,000 monthly control inputs.
