  • A minimum of 4, 6, or 9 years of relevant engineering experience is required, depending on the listed level; an advanced degree in a relevant field may be considered sufficient experience in lieu of professional experience.
  • Typically, 6+ years of direct RF and microwave assemblies experience is required.
  • Experience using RF test equipment, including network analyzers, power meters, bench power supplies, signal/waveform generators, high-speed oscilloscopes, noise figure analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience using Microwave Studios CST, Ansys HFSS, Microwave Office, ADS, or equivalent.
  • Experience with development or programmatic milestones such as PDR, CDR, MRR, and TRR, as well as qualification of RF devices.
  • Experience with proposals.
  • Experience working with engineering drawings.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are needed.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment and with individuals from a variety of company areas, including program managers, engineers from multiple disciplines, and operations staff.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design and schematic capture of RF/electronic circuits and the overall product.
  • Develop functional specifications for RF power amplifiers and integrated microwave assemblies.
  • Provide proposal support for existing and future products.
  • Make design tweaks through full new designs for active RF products.
  • Ensure bare die and bond wire layout designs meet design requirements.
  • Execute qualification on new development.
  • Release the engineering design package to the production configuration management system.
  • Set up and calibrate an RF test bench to perform testing including gain, power, noise figure, and voltage standing wave ratio.
  • Provide support and guidance for developing automated methods for subsystem testing.
  • Design power amplifier matching networks using nonlinear models.
  • Support production builds on development and flight hardware.
  • Run root cause investigations for built hardware.
  • Take technical ownership of design, development, and production troubleshooting.
  • Guide a multidisciplinary team in supporting proposals, development, and production efforts across various phases to ensure commitments are met.

Desired Qualifications

  • Support of space hardware is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on manufacturing engineer experience is a plus.
