Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program licensed by the New York State Department of Education, or phlebotomy and electrocardiogram certification from an accredited program licensed by the New York State Department of Education, is required.
  • Strong knowledge of the technical skills associated with the certification and job function is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of organization are required.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple managers and key stakeholders in a fast-paced environment is required.
  • Interpersonal, communication, and diplomacy skills, along with initiative and a professional demeanor, are required.
  • Ability to obtain patient vital signs, physical statistics, and medical history.
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy and electrocardiograms as needed.
  • Ability to execute laboratory and procedure orders, occupational health physicals, specimen collection and preparation, and point-of-care testing.
  • Ability to retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results for provider review.
  • Ability to accurately and completely document clinical services and patient information in the electronic medical record.
  • Ability to assist providers with medical procedure setup, diagnostic test ordering, chart updates, patient communication, and follow-up documentation.
  • Ability to greet and register patients, verify insurance, collect payments, answer and route phone calls, and resolve patient questions.
  • Ability to organize and restock medical supplies, maintain exam-room cleanliness, complete procedure checklists, coordinate results delivery, and comply with company training and policies.
Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient vitals, physical statistics, and medical history for each patient visit.
  • Perform phlebotomy and electrocardiograms as needed.
  • Execute laboratory and procedure orders and occupational health physicals, including completing forms, collecting and preparing specimens, and conducting point-of-care testing.
  • Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results for provider review.
  • Assist providers with medical procedure setup as needed or directed.
  • Document all clinical services performed in the electronic medical record accurately and completely.
  • Direct patient throughput and flow in the back office so patients are roomed, examined, and discharged timely and orderly.
  • Assist with occupational health duties and patients.
  • Organize medical supplies at the medical assistant station and in exam rooms, and restock rooms as needed.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of exam rooms.
  • Complete daily procedure checklists.
  • Coordinate timely results delivery to employers and medical review officers.
  • Maintain compliance with company training and policies.
  • Welcome new team members and provide support as needed.
  • Respond to and execute email communications in a timely manner.
  • Assist providers with diagnostic test ordering, chart updates, and patient communication as part of scribe cross-training.
  • Document patient follow-up needs, completed forms, and communication notes.
  • Track completion of non-clinical tasks discussed during visits, including outside referrals and educational materials.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to streamline documentation without recording medical diagnoses or provider assessments.
  • Greet and register patients, verify insurance, collect payments, answer and route phone calls, resolve patient questions, and document patient information in the electronic medical record as part of patient-care-coordinator cross-training.
  • Direct patient flow in the waiting area, perform patient service recovery, securely save patient credit cards on file, and complete regular administrative audits.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in urgent care.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Bengali, Arabic, Creole, French, or Hindi.
