  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in safety management, preferably within the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and lead safety initiatives without supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to train and influence others regarding safety matters.
  • Proficient in the use of safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a rigorous safety management system that adheres to industry standards, including AS9100 and OSHA regulations, specifically tailored to the production of solid rocket motors and fuels.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain personnel training schedules to ensure all staff are up-to-date on the latest safety protocols and procedures.
  • Coordinate task and maintenance scheduling to ensure safety considerations are aligned with departmental and facility availability.
  • Align incoming tasks with standardized work requirements, making independent decisions on safety practices and protocols.
  • Oversee the creation and auditing of comprehensive asset documentation, ensuring all safety equipment and gear are accounted for and in optimal condition.
  • Independently manage PO requests and tracking for safety equipment and services, ensuring timely acquisition and budget compliance.
  • Act as the primary liaison for vendor coordination related to safety equipment and services.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, providing recommendations for improvement to prevent future occurrences.
  • Champion a culture of safety within the organization, fostering an environment where employees are encouraged to report safety concerns and contribute to a safer workplace.
