Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience at a payer or a payment integrity or audit vendor.
  • Hands-on experience with claims processing and payment integrity auditing.
  • Exposure across multiple lines of business, including commercial, Federal Employee Program, Medicaid, and Medicare; breadth is preferred over depth in a single line.
  • Strong analytical instincts, including the ability to identify significant problems in data and determine root causes.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Excel and general software, with the ability to learn new claims systems quickly.
  • A track record of meeting metric-driven, time-bound goals while working under a monthly target.
  • High integrity and sound judgment, including the ability to make decisions on findings and defend them.
  • Self-direction and ownership, without needing to be managed through the work queue.
  • Authorization to work in the United States and U.S.-based residency because the role handles protected health information and cannot be performed offshore.
Responsibilities
  • Audit payer claims across commercial, Federal Employee Program, Medicaid, and Medicare lines of business to identify improper payments and recovery opportunities.
  • Analyze claims data in depth to determine root causes of improper payments and build defensible audit findings.
  • Meet or exceed a monthly dollars-identified goal after assignment to a client, with a ramp during onboarding.
  • Maintain a high quality standard on identified dollars and minimize false positives so findings withstand client review.
  • Generate new audit concepts and recovery ideas from data patterns, targeting at least one new concept per month.
  • Support key stakeholders with timely client deliverables, including audit results and documentation.
  • Apply payment integrity and claims-processing knowledge across different payers and claim systems as engagements change.
  • Contribute trends, methods, and audit playbooks to the team's shared knowledge.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior payment integrity auditing specifically, rather than general claims auditing.
  • Experience generating audit concepts or recovery ideas.
