Requirements
  • Must possess a current New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Diagnostic Radiography license and current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification or be eligible for American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification.
  • One year of experience in Diagnostic Radiology is preferred, along with computer literacy.
  • The successful candidate will be trained to become proficient in bone density scans and must maintain valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • The individual must pass a medical evaluation and respirator fit test and wear an N95 particulate filter respirator mask in accordance with PEOSHA standards as a condition of employment.
  • Annual respirator fit testing is required.
  • Must be certified in the service to which the candidate is applying: magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, or angiography.
Responsibilities
  • Explain examinations to patients according to age-specific needs to gain cooperation, minimize anxiety, and optimize desired results.
  • Position, immobilize, and image patients according to approved departmental protocols and equipment requirements to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability.
  • Select appropriate pulsing sequences in accordance with established protocols and factors influencing acquisition parameters.
  • Determine proper and satisfactory radiographic technique exposure factors.
  • Verify informed consent where required.
  • Scan and access patient records via the Radiology Information System and Picture Archive and Communication System.
  • Access images for review on the console of computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and interventional suites, as well as from the Picture Archive and Communication System.
  • Corroborate the patient's clinical history with the procedure and ensure that the information is documented.
  • Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Independently operate and care for equipment and associated technical instruments used for administering contrast agents, monitoring patients, and performing procedures.
  • Select the appropriate program in accordance with established protocols and factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Perform radiographic procedures and related functions to produce accurate diagnostic radiographs for interpretation by a licensed practitioner.
  • Perform procedures in compliance with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection standards and the principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable.
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients, physicians, nurses, administrators, and other hospital staff in accordance with institutional guidelines.
