Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery meetings to understand clients' financial goals, values, and priorities.
  • Conduct in-depth financial assessments covering income, assets, liabilities, and risk tolerance.
  • Create and present tailored wealth plans covering investment, retirement, estate, tax, risk management, and business succession strategies.
  • Partner with legal, tax, and other professionals to deliver holistic financial advice.
  • Maintain accurate records of client information and planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to enhance the overall client experience.
  • Build and maintain internal and external networks to drive new business.
  • Stay current on financial planning trends, tax law changes, and regulatory updates.
  • Represent the bank at community events to build visibility and attract new prospects.
  • Support business growth by acquiring new assets from existing and prospective clients.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

  • Advanced degrees or certifications such as JD or CPA.
  • Specialized training in financial planning or wealth management.

United Community has appointed Tom Speir as executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective 8 September. Speir brings over 20 years of financial experience, including balance sheet management, M&A, strategic planning, and investor relations. He will oversee the bank's financial direction, capital management, and investor relations whilst supporting United's long-term growth. Speir succeeds Jefferson Harralson, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Chief executive Lynn Harton praised Speir's financial expertise, strategic planning skills, and investment community relationships.
