Requirements
- Direct experience with downhole drilling or completion tools.
- Experience designing products from concept design through prototype, qualification, and field deployment.
- Strong understanding of API 10F, API 10D, API 11D1, and API 19AC, as applicable to the product portfolio.
- Experience with pressure-containing mechanical products.
- Strong geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, tolerance stack-up, finite element analysis, and materials knowledge.
- Experience with metals, heat treatment, elastomers, and coatings.
- Experience with Creo/Pro-E, SolidWorks, or similar computer-aided design software.
- Product lifecycle management/product data management experience.
- Experience with new product introduction, design reviews, failure mode and effects analysis, qualification testing, and corrective and preventive action.
- Ability to work directly with manufacturing and quality.
- Ability to manage sustaining engineering and new product development simultaneously.
- Strong English communication skills and ability to interact with Houston/global engineering.
- Ability to provide technical product support to Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Sales and Operations as needed to meet delivery and customer requirements.
- Ability to demonstrate an organized and disciplined approach to engineering management.
- Strong leadership and management skills, including performance management, planning, prioritization, objective setting, and plan execution.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts, needs, and instructions accurately and clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues in English and Hindi.
- Ability to interact with, influence, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among people from varied cultures and disciplines, including under stressful circumstances.
- Ability to make decisions with direct consequences to the company.
- Mechanical engineering (or similar) diploma or degree.
- Minimum 15–20 years of experience in the respective field; the work experience section specifies 15–20+ years of engineering experience, preferably in oilfield.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM Pro.
- Mastery of engineering documentation, organization, and systems best practices.
- Spoken and written fluency in English and Hindi.
- Extensive experience with well construction/completion/casing accessory industry equipment.
- Five or more years leading engineers/designers.
- Experience in a technical management/leadership role.
- Experience working and leading others in India.
- CAD drafting and design experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support the team and delivery of engineering work, including product development, sustaining engineering, and testing.
- Use technical problem-solving, project-management skills, and people management to meet business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and improve and maintain engineering processes and best practices.
- Design and direct engineering projects through the design team, ensuring speed and quality of outputs.
- Maintain and improve engineering-related processes and procedures by adopting modern approaches to design and working practices.
- Support and investigate product-quality issues.
- Contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, and internal meetings.
Desired Qualifications
- Ideally, experience working with API/ISO-certified manufacturing organizations.
- Programming and machining experience is a plus.
