Requirements
  • A current New Hampshire Licensed Practical Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and automated external defibrillator certification are required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of and adhere to organization policies, practice and site protocols, and safety and infection control procedures.
  • Maintain competency in activities that support ongoing professional development and those required by department or organization policy.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examinations and visits.
  • Obtain and thoroughly document patient vital signs and reasons for visits.
  • Prepare patient charts for providers, including reviewing medications, allergies, treatments, height, weight, problem lists, and other requested criteria.
  • Review and document patient histories, including immunizations and screenings.
  • Instruct patients in the collection of samples and preparation for tests.
  • Assist providers with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Assist with the preparation of equipment and instruments.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Screen and document patient calls, determine problem urgency, consult providers regarding treatment, and advise patients accordingly.
  • Perform patient triage.
  • Document charts for returned phone calls, missed appointments, and other clinical issues, including initials, date, and time.
  • Take messages and assist providers with return phone calls.
  • Call in prescriptions according to provider orders and protocols.
  • Retrieve records and file or import patient test results; notify patients of results per provider direction and document outreach promptly.
  • Perform all required quality-control checks on tests and equipment.
  • Preload pertinent patient history into the electronic medical record.
  • Perform tests as instructed, including electrocardiograms, laboratory, vision, hearing, pulmonary function, and non-stress tests.
  • Administer allergy injections, medications, immunizations, and other measured injectables according to provider orders.
  • Apply and change dressings.
  • Remove sutures.
  • Perform venipuncture according to provider orders.
  • Prepare, clean, and stock examination rooms.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with scheduling patient tests.
  • Prepare or perform pre-certifications and prior authorizations.
  • Order and maintain medical supplies and vaccine inventory.
  • Assist the front office as needed.
  • Complete general filing, scanning, and importing.
  • Coordinate and complete paperwork and forms related to referrals, health, school and sports, immunizations, excused or return-to-work or school documentation, childcare, and medication administration; document completion as required.
  • Organize and prioritize work to expedite patient care.
  • Complete assigned and required training within defined timelines.
  • Perform duties during scheduled hours, arrive and leave on time, and complete assigned responsibilities.
  • Assist with support and coverage within the practice network as needed.
  • Perform related work and other duties consistent with the role.
  • For specialty practices, perform appointment scheduling, procedure or surgery scheduling, and related activities for ambulatory clinics in IMG and HOD.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two or more years of nursing experience is preferred.
