ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are currently seeking an Assistant Account Executive to join our dynamic and creative consumer practice team in Chicago. You will have a strong focus on traditional PR and will require experience writing communications materials (i.e., press releases, pitches) and working with the media. You will be responsible for working closely with the account team(s), maintaining a broader scope of day-to-day account work, including media relations, tracking, reporting and more. You will report to all members of the team and be a part of shaping creative stories on behalf of client(s).
You will succeed at Zeno if you are fearless, resourceful, tenacious, passionate, have an understanding of traditional and non-traditional PR tactics and the media landscape, and drive great results for clients while building great relationships with your team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain media coverage lists and trackers.
- Develop a strong media relations foundation, working directly with reporters.
- Prepare client status & activity reports, compile media & competitor coverage, & coordinate pitching.
- Research, outline, write, edit, & proofread materials, including media advisories, pitch letters/e-mails, biographies, reports, & fact sheets.
- Collaborate with team members to develop strategy, implement plans, and execute PR campaigns, initiatives, & events.
- Keep a close eye on trends, social media conversations and brainstorm creative storytelling angles.
- Support new business and additional tasks as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Driven to consistently meet deadlines and manage timelines through close team collaboration.
- Excellent verbal communication, strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent writing skills, experience crafting pitches, releases, contributed articles.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and up for new challenges.
- Must have earned a bachelor’s degree.
- Must have previous internship/full-time experience at an agency or in-house setting.
- Must have a solid grasp of all basic public relations tools and how they affect the client.
