  • Experience with programmable logic controller programs.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code.
  • Knowledge of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration.
  • Knowledge of the Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association.
  • Ability to receive and maintain a RETA CARO certification.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, climbing, frequent movement, and working at heights.
  • Ability to lift or move products or items weighing up to 49 pounds.
  • Ability to operate handheld devices, computers, multimeters, infrared thermometers, machinery, power tools, motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and powered industrial trucks.
  • Ability to work in environments that may include confined spaces, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, noise, vibration, wet or uneven surfaces, and prolonged standing.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the electrical and mechanical aspects of ammonia refrigeration equipment, including evaporators, compressors, condensers, vessel packages, and piping systems.
  • Participate in all aspects of Target’s Process Safety Management program.
  • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Control, reset, repair, or replace components.
  • Clean, lubricate, and paint equipment.
  • Troubleshoot power distribution systems, branch circuits, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring methods and materials up to 480 volts.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment, including powered industrial trucks, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment, air compressors and dryers, and balers.
  • Read and understand basic electrical and electronic schematics.
  • Develop work plans with peer technicians for emergency repair of critical assets.
  • Perform technical training for other maintenance technicians and act as trainer and adviser for maintenance technician trainees.
  • Use handheld devices and asset management system mobile applications to create and close work orders with labor hours, downtime, problem, cause, remedy, and parts-used data.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians, building leaders, and outside specialty contractors to solve problems, validate work quality, optimize ammonia refrigeration equipment, and manage projects.
  • Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and correct systemic issues using observation and diagnostic tools.
  • Troubleshoot system controls logic and restore equipment to service after breakdowns.
  • Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment, including lockout/tagout and arc-flash procedures, while eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.
Desired Qualifications
  • A degree from a technical or community college, or accredited industrial maintenance certifications in programmable logic controllers, industrial networks, machine logic, or robotics, with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields.
  • Four or more years of experience with an industrial ammonia refrigeration system.
  • CARO and/or CIRO certification.
