Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year American Medical Association-accredited School of Diagnostic Ultrasonography, or grandfathered entry into the profession with the ability to demonstrate competencies.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential is required.
  • Must attain Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Must be proficient in using ultrasound equipment and competent in recognizing anatomy and pathology.
  • Must be proficient in breast imaging and breast procedures.
  • Must maintain licensure and credentials as required by governing bodies.
  • Must be flexible to meet department staffing needs, including overtime, off-site work, holidays, and on-call rotation.
  • Must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations and procedures to produce images used to diagnose and treat medical disorders, including in operating room, emergency room, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
  • Obtain and document necessary patient information or history to perform the appropriate examination or procedure.
  • Perform ultrasound examinations accurately.
  • Use the Radiology Information System (RIS) to track patients accurately from arrival through examination completion and departure from the department.
  • Use the Picture Archive Communication System (PACS) ultrasound work list to determine patient demographics and accession numbers accurately.
  • Ensure examination quality control using PACS.
  • Evaluate images for diagnostic purposes, recognize anatomy and pathology, and determine whether additional images are needed.
  • Follow department standards and protocols accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and colleagues.
  • Contribute to a team approach to provide quality patient care.
  • Maintain technical efficiency in operating ultrasound diagnostic equipment.
  • Comply with Lahey Clinic policies and departmental behavioral expectations, and incorporate the clinic's guiding principles and mission into daily activities.
  • Maintain courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
  • Understand the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
  • Meet patient and customer needs and adhere to customer service standards.
  • Participate in departmental or interdepartmental quality-improvement activities.
  • Participate in and successfully complete mandatory education.
  • Perform other duties in support of the organization as required or directed.
  • Transport patients.
  • Orient and mentor new staff.
  • Clean and stock rooms or notify the team leader when supplies or room needs arise.
  • Assist in training ultrasound students.
  • Assist support staff as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in a large hospital setting is preferred. The organization will train new graduates.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
