Requirements
  • An Associate's degree in instrumentation, control technology, electrical systems, or a related field is required.
  • Experience working with instrumentation such as pressure transducers, thermocouples, valves, flow meters, multimeters, or oscilloscopes is required; experience from a college program counts.
  • Experience with resistance temperature devices, silicon diode temperature devices, strain gauges, load cells, displacement transducers, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and turbine, coriolis, or ultrasonic flow meters.
  • Knowledge of IPC 620 specifications for harness assembly.
  • Basic knowledge of Wheatstone Bridge Theory, Ohm's Law, and direct-current electronics.
  • Operational knowledge of oscilloscopes and multimeters; soldering wires and connectors; operating crimping tools; wire stripping; continuity testing; pinning out military-type connectors; routing and tie-wrapping cables; drilling and tapping holes; and building junction boxes.
  • System-level troubleshooting skills and the ability to logically solve instrumentation system problems and determine corrective action.
  • Experience troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives and motor starters.
  • Knowledge of signal-conditioning concepts for sensors, including Type K, S, and E thermocouples; thermocouple bonding concepts; thermocouple probes through thermowell sheaths; and cold-junction compensation.
  • Experience with DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, UPS installations, heat-shrink tubing, cable harnessing, lacing, and strain-relief concepts.
  • Working knowledge of transducers, operational amplifiers, and measurement techniques for temperature, pressure, flow, displacement, and vibration, including strain-gauge applications.
  • Ability to identify required data, data-acquisition plans, and test parameters, and set up equipment according to specifications.
  • Working knowledge of bus architectures including PCI, PCIe, PXI, PXIe, GPIB, serial, and USB, and of data-communication technologies.
  • Intermediate skill with Windows operating systems.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and OneNote.
  • Knowledge of data-acquisition concepts, hardware, and interfacing, including SCXI- and PXI-based systems.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and varying shifts as site operations require.
  • Physical dexterity to work in tight quarters and small openings; ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted; stand, kneel, crouch, twist, climb hand over hand, and work at elevated heights.
  • Ability to work in extreme outdoor environments and in areas with fumes, odors, and noise.
  • Willingness to travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary, up to 10%.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain, calibrate, configure, monitor, test, troubleshoot, install, and repair instrumentation, process controls, data-acquisition systems, and electrical systems.
  • Investigate, diagnose, correct, and document instrumentation or system malfunctions.
  • Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electrical and electronic units, assemblies, components, parts, equipment, and systems.
  • Perform wire terminations to instruments and verify the health of pressure transducers, thermocouples, valves, limits, and flow meters.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and modify circuitry and components, and record the effects on unit performance.
  • Read and interpret planning documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches.

  • Working knowledge of transducers, operational amplifiers, measurement techniques, and strain-gauge applications.
  • Working knowledge of PCI, PCIe, PXI, PXIe, GPIB, serial, and USB bus architectures and data-communication technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop comprehensive project plans with tasks, stage-gate milestones, and reviews.
  • Intermediate skill with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of SCXI- and PXI-based data-acquisition hardware and interfacing.

SpaceX's plan to build a $100 billion spaceport in Louisiana's Vermilion Parish is facing investor scrutiny over financing. Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas estimates the facility represents roughly 2% of SpaceX's expected spending through 2035, suggesting the company will need to take on significant debt to fund its broader ambitions. The Starbase Louisiana facility will be SpaceX's fourth and largest launch site, featuring five launch complexes. Construction is set to begin in 2027, with the first launch targeted for 2029. Louisiana Economic Development projects the spaceport will create 3,000 direct jobs at an average salary of $92,600. The company's second-quarter capital expenditures reached $18.4 billion, up from $10.1 billion the previous quarter, causing its stock to fall 8% in after-hours trading.

SpaceX commits $100B to Louisiana Starbase with dozen launch towers

The US government has announced new policies to improve launch facility efficiency, including transparent range scheduling at federal spaceports and identifying potential locations for additional launch sites. The measures aim to better integrate space operations into airspace management. Arianespace is set to launch the MTG-I2 meteorological satellite on Thursday using its Ariane 62 configuration, marking the rocket's first mission to geostationary orbit and fourth launch of the year. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry announced that SpaceX will invest $100 billion to develop "Starbase Louisiana", a new Starship production and launch facility. The site will span approximately 125,000 acres near Pecan Island, dwarfing the 350-acre Texas location. Construction is planned for 2027, with initial launches targeted for 2029. The facility may eventually accommodate up to twelve Starship launch towers.

BofA: SpaceX's $19.6B spectrum buy faces infrastructure reality check

Bank of America analysts have raised concerns about SpaceX's wireless ambitions following the company's $19.6 billion acquisition of EchoStar spectrum. While SpaceX reported strong quarterly sales of $7.81 billion, up nearly 50%, BofA suggests its push into mobile services may complement rather than replace existing networks. Analyst Matthew Griffiths noted that competing with nationwide carriers requires extensive terrestrial infrastructure including thousands of towers, small cells, and years of construction. One potential approach using customer-hosted femtocells could require 500 million to 1.5 billion units nationwide, costing hundreds of billions in equipment alone at nearly $1,000 each. SpaceX shares have declined 6.9% year-to-date, trading 38% below their June record. BofA concluded the wireless expansion will likely need more infrastructure, industry cooperation, and time than investors currently anticipate.

Elon Musk predicts SpaceX could reach approximately $3.5 trillion in annual revenue by 2033, seven years ahead of Morgan Stanley's forecast for 2040. The estimate extends Musk's earlier $1 trillion projection for 2030. SpaceX has never published official revenue targets in any filing. The company booked $18.67 billion in 2025, meaning Musk's projection requires roughly 92% annual growth for eight consecutive years. SpaceX's AI unit grew 247% to $2.56 billion last quarter, whilst Starlink subscribers doubled to 12 million. Of $18.4 billion in second-quarter capital spending, $15.8 billion went to AI development. The company estimates its addressable AI market at $26.5 trillion. SpaceX stock trades near $141, approximately 38% below its June peak, valuing the company at roughly $1.91 trillion.
