Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technology program is required.
  • Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques is required.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment is required.
  • The candidate must meet all applicable state licensure, registration, and certification requirements where employed.
  • The role requires the physical, mental, and cognitive ability to perform essential tasks, including learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, integrating information, problem-solving, and timely decision-making.
  • The role requires repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movements, close visual acuity, the ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods, and the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • The role requires independent task execution, memorization of tasks, sustained concentration, multitasking, prioritization, and comfort interacting with large groups of people daily.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures and ensure instruments and supplies are sterile and available.
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Monitor and maintain aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures.
  • Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after procedures to ensure accuracy.
  • Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment as needed.
  • Transport patients to and from the operating room and assist with positioning.
  • Clean and restock operating rooms after procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures and equipment usage.
  • Collaborate with surgical team members to support optimal patient care.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Execute assigned tasks independently and prioritize work in a demanding environment.
  • Maintain responsibility for workload items in clinical and support areas.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
