Requirements
  • An Associate of Science or technical trade school education in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field; experience may substitute for education at a ratio of 1.5 years of related experience to 1 year of formal education.
  • Four years of related experience or successful completion of a State- or military-approved bona fide work-related apprenticeship program recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Understanding of electrical theory and the ability to exercise independent judgment when performing circuit diagnostic analysis.
  • Comprehensive ability to read and understand electronic schematics.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
  • Ability to pass initial and random drug testing.
  • A valid Florida driver's license must be obtained and maintained.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in cold and hot temperatures, high humidity, and windy conditions.
  • Ability to work with required precautions or protective gear around moving machinery, chemicals, electrical hazards, special rigging, heights, ladders, work platforms, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift 35–50 pounds, work on uneven surfaces, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive movement, bending, stooping, twisting, and work in awkward positions.
  • Ability to recognize or interpret differences in wire and cable colors.
  • Ability to receive and transmit auditory information using telecommunication or electronic devices.
  • Ability to work second- or third-shift assignments when required.
Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, install, maintain, troubleshoot, modify, program, route, remove, control, and repair Operational Television–Digital communication systems.
  • Install, remove, maintain, and replace serial digital closed-circuit surveillance television and webcam systems supporting spacecraft, payload, and security operations.
  • Install and maintain camera control systems for pan, tilt, zoom, and related trim controls.
  • Install and maintain mid-split-level television and broadband communication distribution systems, including Channel 60 and the Operational Television webpage.
  • Fabricate, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, repair, test, align, calibrate, and operate fiber-optic, closed-circuit television, head-end and distribution, high-definition and serial-digital television, switching and distribution, pressurized pan-and-tilt, pressurized lighting and camera, and video-surveillance systems.
  • Coordinate with other crafts to ensure job completeness and assist with troubleshooting.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, schematics, and notes.
  • Provide, update, and maintain required documentation, reports, and logs manually or in electronic databases.
  • Make recommendations to improve work quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration, NASA, company, and customer safety requirements.
  • Assist in training others when required.
