  • Create and release documentation for printed circuit board fabrication.
  • Own schematic design, component selection, printed circuit board layout, and design review.
  • Manage board-level bring-up, debugging, and validation in laboratory and field-test environments.
  • Guide board-level manufacturing, testing, and assembly processes with in-house teams and external vendors.
  • Establish test procedures for validation, environmental qualification, and electromagnetic compatibility/electrostatic discharge qualification.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or equivalent experience in avionics or high-reliability hardware systems.
  • Proven experience delivering complex, multi-board avionics or embedded systems from concept to production.
  • Familiarity with NVIDIA Jetson platforms, STM32, RP2040, or other aerospace-class embedded systems.
  • Experience in design for manufacture and supply chain planning for high-mix, low-volume aerospace production.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, in-house assembly, and validation test campaigns.
  • Prior work on systems where hardware must survive extreme environments, such as missiles, launch vehicles, hypersonic systems, or satellites.

About the company

Singularity Defense makes affordable, scalable missile interceptors to counter inexpensive drones and munitions. It designs and builds subsystems in-house using commercial components to enable rapid testing and mass production, aiming for automotive‑style output rather than scarce, high‑cost interceptors. The team includes veterans from SpaceX, Tesla, Anduril, Lockheed Martin and Toyota, giving cross‑domain experience and a focus on high‑rate development compared with traditional defense suppliers. Its goal is to scale production for active conflict zones and broader U.S. demand, making effective interceptors more widely available.

What believers are saying

  • July 14, 2026 Series A raised $80 million at a $400 million valuation.
  • LA Business Journal reported production and testing up to eight times monthly.
  • September 23, 2026 hiring for drone pilots and manufacturing engineers shows scaling effort.

What critics are saying

  • No public contract awards exist, so revenue depends on winning Pentagon programs fast.
  • Interceptiors remain in development, leaving Anduril and Raytheon time to outspend.
  • If production slips, the $80 million round becomes a short runway before cash burn.

What makes Singularity Defense unique

  • In-house subsystems and commercial components cut supplier dependence versus legacy primes.
  • Automotive-style assembly and monthly flight tests target volume, not boutique interceptors.
  • July 14, 2026 launch, with Khosla, Felicis, and defense advisers, signals credibility.

Singularity, NAWCWD advance air defence with SRM test.

Singularity, NAWCWD advance air defence with SRM test. Static-fire testing validated a rocket-motor design intended for Singularity's as-yet-unveiled interceptor systems. US defence company Singularity has conducted a static-fire test of a solid rocket motor (SRM) developed through a research agreement with the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD). The company said the motor's design will support interceptor systems that it plans to reveal at a later date. Singularity and NAWCWD are working to move the motor into high-volume production, it added. The work was carried out under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), which allows government laboratories and industry to collaborate on research and development. The partners reduced the period from initial design to static fire from about a year to approximately three months. The static fire, which validates the motor's performance and safety parameters, allows developers to assess its operation without conducting a flight test. Singularity co-founder and CEO Jack Oswald said: "Our cooperative agreement with NAWCWD embodies bold action by the Department of War (DoW) to enable more aggressive deployment timelines for new air defence systems by prioritising speed to test, commercialisation of government innovation, and partnership with new entrants." NAWCWD said the agreement combines the warfare centre's technical expertise with Singularity's manufacturing approach to address demand for air-defence capacity. The jointly developed rocket motor will underpin future interceptor systems, details of which Singularity has yet to disclose publicly. NAWCWD's involvement brings decades of propulsion and energetics expertise from its China Lake site, a longstanding hub for US weapons research. The agreement is specifically focused on the challenge of countering drones and bolstering tactical air defence, areas identified as critical due to an ongoing interceptor shortfall. NAWCWD strategic partnerships director Tamara Schiller said: "This agreement creates a pathway to leverage commercial innovation and manufacturing speed alongside the command's technical expertise to accelerate capability delivery to the warfighter." Singularity publicly launched on 14 July following an oversubscribed $80m Series A funding round, which set the company's valuation at $400m. The company said it is developing low-cost air-defence systems and plans to use an assembly-line model based on automotive manufacturing principles to increase output. Singularity and Navy lab static fire advanced rocket motor in three months, not a year

Singularity, a defence startup, has successfully static fired an advanced solid rocket motor (SRM) developed with the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD), it announced on October 22, 2026. The two worked under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. The teams cut the usual year-long timeline from clean sheet to static fire to about three months. The motor will underpin Singularity's forthcoming interceptor systems, which it has yet to unveil in full, and is aimed at tactical air defence and counter-drone missions. "The warfighter will have a low-cost tactical air defense solution with breakthrough performance," said Jack Oswald, co-founder and chief executive officer of Singularity. Singularity emerged from stealth in July 2026. It is building an assembly line based on automotive principles, and the teams plan to bring the motor into high-volume production.
