Requirements

Nurse practitioner candidates must have an MN, MSN, DNP, PhD, or DNS degree in nursing.
Physician assistant candidates must be graduates of an accredited physician assistant program.
Nurse practitioner candidates must hold an APRN license in Florida.
Nurse practitioner candidates applying for licensure after July 1, 2006, must have national advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board.
Nurse practitioner candidates must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Physician assistant candidates must maintain current physician assistant licensure in Florida.
Physician assistant candidates must maintain current BLS or healthcare certification.
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department setting, including at least two years as an advanced practice provider in an urgent care setting.
Candidates must be competent in working independently.

Responsibilities

Acts as an advanced resource for the specialty area or as a lead worker in a clinic setting.
Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to diagnose medical and surgical problems and prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
Provides patient care services with a high degree of independence and minimal physician supervision, generally in a highly specialized area.
Assists in teaching students, residents, and interns complex techniques and procedures unique to the specialized clinical setting.
Uses advanced skills and in-depth clinical knowledge to independently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care across the continuum.
Assesses patients’ physical and psychosocial status through interviews, health histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
Writes or dictates reports and progress notes in the medical record.
Recognizes deviations from normal findings in physical assessments and works collaboratively to formulate treatment plans.
Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessments, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and admission and discharge care.
Performs and documents detailed histories and physical examinations, inpatient history and physical examinations, and discharge summaries; documentation must be reviewed and countersigned by a supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and cannot substitute for a physician history and physical examination.
Initiates appropriate actions to implement therapeutic plans consistent with patients’ ongoing healthcare needs.
Provides care appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
Provides a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
Maintains awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient-care issues to improve patient care.
Dictates and documents accurately and promptly.
Maintains preventive health services.
Conducts or participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds.
Triages patients.
Shares clinical expertise with professional and support personnel and collaborates with other healthcare disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Position Summary

Department: Florida Medical Clinic Urgent Care

Schedule Requirements: 8am - 8pm

- 14 shifts per month
- includes 2 weekends per month and holidays

The Advance Practice Provier diagnoses and treats acute, episodic, or chronic illness, may focus on health promotion and disease prevention with the highest degree of independence

Qualifications

Education/Training

Nurse Practitioner

MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing.

Physician Assistant
