Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent and one year of customer service or public interaction experience are required.
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
  • Must possess or obtain within six months of employment Community First Aid and Safety, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
  • Knowledge of the operational characteristics, services, and activities of sports leagues, recreation, and athletic facilities.
  • Knowledge of recreation and sports programming, athletic programs, league and special-events planning, and coordination.
  • Knowledge of customer-service principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety laws and regulations.
  • Skill in interpreting customer needs and expectations and resolving customer-service and public-relations issues.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, providing alternatives, and identifying solutions in support of established goals.
  • Skill in responding to emergencies and determining corrective actions using available resources.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with City employees, facility lessees and guests, event sponsors and vendors, and the general public.
  • Skill in operating and maintaining a personal computer using point-of-sale and reservation or registration software and communications equipment.
  • Skill in managing cash-handling and reporting processes.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and evenings, with most work occurring in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach for extended periods and safely pull, push, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work immediately before, during, or after an emergency or disaster.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in ensuring the delivery of high-quality and consistent athletic programs and leagues.
  • Plan, organize, facilitate, and instruct approved programs to meet community needs and align with City objectives, policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.
  • Act as an on-site monitor for outdoor sports leagues and provide materials and scorekeeping for participants and umpires.
  • Assist with preparing sports fields, including lining, dragging, and field maintenance, as needed for leagues and programs.
  • Provide effective and courteous customer service to facility guests, program participants, and the general public.
  • Assist in promoting and coordinating citywide special events, including event setup and teardown.
  • Assist in managing administrative activities, including computer records and cash management.
  • Operate the computer registration and reservation system and sports-field lighting systems.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and help present a clean, comfortable, and safe environment.
  • Report potential and existing safety issues or concerns to supervisors to help ensure patron safety.
  • Perform other assigned or required duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in recreation, nature education, or athletic instruction.
