Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, geology, planning, or a similar field is required.
  • A minimum of 7–10 years of NEPA experience, or comparable writing and document development experience, is required.
  • A deep understanding of the National Environmental Policy Act and its intersection with the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Historical Preservation Act is required.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deliverable targets and deadlines, work under time constraints, balance multiple priorities, and track multiple documents concurrently.
  • Research, analytical, writing, oral communication, and organizational skills are required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for client events, conferences, and other business-related engagements.
  • Interpersonal skills and oral and written communication skills necessary to maintain positive internal, client, and contractor relationships are required.
  • Solid technical writing skills and problem-solving abilities are required.
  • A passion for environmental consulting, technical excellence, and quality, and a commitment to lifelong learning and growth are required.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct National Environmental Policy Act impact analyses for a wide range of public projects and develop the appropriate level of National Environmental Policy Act documentation.
  • Manage the preparation of legally sound Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, categorical exclusions, and other environmental compliance documents such as biological assessments.
  • Participate in authoring various sections of the applicable National Environmental Policy Act document.
  • Oversee the preparation of National Environmental Policy Act documents by subconsultants when needed and provide quality assurance and quality control for deliverables.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies and the public to help clients meet compliance requirements, communicate project details, and record stakeholder input.
  • Develop presentations and facilitate agency and public meetings.
  • Stay updated on developments and best practices in National Environmental Policy Act law, regulation, policy, and guidance.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, project teams, clients, and other stakeholders to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Provide technical support for environmental permitting processes.
  • Train junior staff.
