Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, or a related technical field
  • 8–12 years of experience in manufacturing IT, MES, or shopfloor application development/integration, with at least 3 years coordinating multi‑plant or multi‑workstream delivery
  • Strong understanding of the shopfloor integration landscape: MES platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, or equivalent), ERP (SAP), SCADA/PLC, historians, and industrial communication protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT, SOAP, REST, AMQP)
  • SQL fluency (joins, window functions, query optimization) for data mining against production databases; comfort reading and debugging JSON, XML, and SOAP payloads
  • Big data awareness: familiarity with time‑series databases, data lake concepts, and streaming ingestion patterns
  • Basic algorithm understanding (sorting, searching, complexity analysis) sufficient to evaluate engineering proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge technical teams and vendors constructively — detecting over‑engineering, underestimated effort, or architectural shortcuts
  • Experience managing vendor/system integrator engagements with technical quality oversight, not just timeline/budget tracking
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: traceability, quality checks, OEE, operator workflows, and machine data capture
  • IT/OT cybersecurity principles, network segmentation, and secured industrial architectures
  • Ability to work effectively across time zones with geographically distributed teams
  • Proactive, structured, and able to manage multiple global initiatives with competing priorities
Responsibilities
  • Own delivery outcomes for manufacturing IT projects across multiple PHINIA plants, coordinating engineering resources, vendor teams, and plant stakeholders to meet scope, timeline, and quality commitments
  • Evaluate technical proposals, solution designs, and effort estimates from engineers and vendors; identify gaps, challenge assumptions, and ensure alignment with PHINIA’s architecture standards and shopfloor realities
  • Serve as the primary in‑timezone interface between plant ME/OpEx teams and the delivery team — triaging incoming requests, setting priorities, and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Coordinate cross‑functional delivery across MES, ERP (SAP), SCADA/PLC, historians, and IoT platform integrations, ensuring end‑to‑end solution coherence across the integration landscape
  • Manage vendor and system integrator engagements — reviewing deliverables, enforcing milestone gates, evaluating technical quality (not just timelines), and course‑correcting when needed
  • Structure delivery under ambiguity: scope manufacturing IT projects with incomplete requirements, run discovery sprints, and keep delivery on track when plant teams cannot fully articulate their data or process needs
  • Provide architecture oversight for shopfloor applications, dashboards, machine‑data connectors, and operator interfaces in collaboration with the Bucharest‑based architecture lead
  • Drive SQL‑based data mining across production databases to validate integration outputs, troubleshoot data quality issues, and support plant stakeholder reporting needs
  • Ensure all shopfloor solutions follow PHINIA’s cybersecurity, Zero‑Trust OT, data integrity, and resilience standards, including IEC 62443‑aligned principles
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation including architecture overviews, integration specifications, data‑flow diagrams, and delivery runbooks for global implementation teams
  • Contribute to digital manufacturing initiatives including IIoT enablement, predictive analytics, machine connectivity, AI/vision systems, and smart‑factory programs
  • Support knowledge transfer and onboarding of new team members; build documentation and processes that reduce single‑person dependencies
  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring delivery of local team results
Desired Qualifications
  • MES platform certifications (Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, etc.) — preferred
  • Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ‑900, AZ‑204, or AZ‑305) — preferred
  • IT/OT security certifications (ISA/IEC 62443 awareness) — preferred

PHINIA provides fuel systems and aftermarket automotive parts to improve engine efficiency and reduce emissions. Its Fuel Systems unit designs injectors, pumps, engine control modules and complete system solutions with software and calibration; its Aftermarket unit offers replacement parts, diagnostic equipment, and remanufactured products under brands like Delphi, Delco Remy, and Hartridge. The company differentiates itself through its BorgWarner spin-off structure, strong aftermarket brands, and heavy investment in research and development aimed at fuel efficiency and alternative fuels, including hydrogen, ethanol, and CNG, plus carbon-free combustion applications. PHINIA seeks steady growth by gaining share in a shrinking internal combustion engine market while building capabilities for low-emission propulsion.
