Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks in a timely manner.
  • Basic proficiency in computer use is required.
  • Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
  • Ability to perform the stated physical activities, including pushing and pulling, lifting, mobility, hand and finger dexterity, balance, and prolonged standing, bending, walking, or typing.
  • Ability to work in environments involving chemicals, chemotherapy, fumes, loud noises, vibration, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, allergens, magnetic fields, radiation, sharps, latex, and combative patients or visitors.
  • Ability to work with potential exposure to infectious hazards, blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens, patients, and patient specimens.
Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors, patients, and families professionally and direct them appropriately.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow through registration and provide customer service to patients and families.
  • Answer telephone calls, direct calls appropriately, take accurate messages, and deliver them to the appropriate individuals.
  • Inform patients of physician schedule delays and assist with patient comfort while they wait.
  • Post self-pay charges, collect payments, provide receipts, reconcile daily payments, and reconcile billing slips to the daily schedule.
  • Open and close batches, reconcile collections, prepare deposits, and document corrections.
  • Scan insurance cards, process insurance verifications using the online system, and update patient accounts.
  • Update patient demographics, insurance information, HIPAA forms, and financial waivers.
  • Schedule appointments according to department guidelines, use the waitlist when applicable, confirm future appointments, and review eligibility and phone reports.
  • Schedule and enter orders for diagnostic tests and procedures according to required workflows.
  • Work with Patient Care Resources and clinical staff to support timely pre-authorizations.
  • Complete referrals according to departmental guidelines and enter them into the appropriate system.
  • Communicate problems, concerns, and issues to the Office Supervisor or Manager promptly.
  • Perform clerical duties including faxing, photocopying, scanning, filing, and mailings.
  • Cover for other staff and work at other office locations when requested.
  • Follow downtime procedures.
  • Perform other assigned job duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous Patient Service Representative experience.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and terminology.
  • Previous experience with standard office technology in a Windows-based environment.
  • Experience with an electronic health record, practice management system, and departmental or ancillary systems.
  • An Associate Degree.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Flexibility with various work schedules.

Walgreens Boots Alliance-backed healthcare clinic chain VillageMD is reportedly working with advisers to explore a sale, restructuring or other options. This move comes after Walgreens CEO Tim Wentworth said during a January earnings call that the company plans to divest VillageMD, Bloomberg reported Wednesday (Feb. 12). A Walgreens spokesperson told Bloomberg that Walgreens “is continuing to work toward executing its stated goal of securing an endpoint for its investment in VillageMD, consistent with Walgreens’ turnaround strategy.”

Walgreens Boots AllianceTim Barry is leaving as chief executive officer of VillageMD, the clinic operator that has cost its majority owner, Walgreens Boots Alliance, billions of dollars in losses.VillageMD confirmed Wednesday afternoon in a statement that Barry “has stepped down as CEO and Board Chair.” Barry founded VillageMD in 2013, but the Chicago-based company has since struggled to fill its clinics attached to Walgreens with patients and has scaled back dramatically on the expansion of doctor practices it manages and Village Medical clinics the company opened attached to Walgreens.“The Board has appointed VillageMD Chief Operations Officer Jim Murray to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer,” VillageMD said in its brief statement. “Effective immediately, Murray assumes day-to-day leadership responsibilities to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of care.
