Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred, or the ability to become licensed within 6-12 months is required.
  • At least 7 years of experience as a Civil Engineer or Environmental Engineer in the water or wastewater field is required.
  • Experience with water supply, distribution and treatment, or wastewater collection, conveyance and treatment is necessary.
  • Strong project management skills and experience are essential.
  • Construction management experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, or the ability to obtain one.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment is required.
  • The ability to work outdoors during construction season, stand and walk for extended periods, lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and work scheduled and required hours is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional engineering services including studies, planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction administration, construction observation, and project management.
  • Manage a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff on water and wastewater projects from planning through design and construction.
  • Independently manage projects and collaboratively contribute to project plans and specifications.
  • Mentor project team members and provide direction to engineering technicians and other team members developing project plans and specifications.
  • Communicate project updates and progress with clients, supervisors, and project team members throughout all project phases.
  • Attend company, project, and client meetings as necessary.
  • Lead proposal preparation and participate in interviews to secure work for the firm.
  • Coordinate with other engineering teams on complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Follow the company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner.
  • Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs as appropriate.
  • Travel and stay out of town as required, and work overtime when necessary, especially during construction season.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience preparing civil design drawings, specifications, and opinions of cost for water and sewer utilities, pump stations, and treatment facilities is preferred.
  • Experience working with local and state agencies is a plus.
  • Hydraulic modeling or process modeling experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other computer-aided design and drafting software is a plus.
