Requirements
  • A current, valid Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner's credential issued by the Health Licensing Office for the State of Oregon and Registered Respiratory Therapist credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care are required.
  • A minimum associate degree from a respiratory therapy education program supported or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care, or a related field, is required.
  • At least two years of clinical respiratory care practice is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required; new hires must complete it during orientation.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate shift assignments and provide clinical support.
  • Ensure the team receives meals and breaks through effective use of team resources.
  • Determine staffing requirements and workload assignments based on departmental staffing plans and leadership guidance.
  • Implement staffing incentives according to leadership and departmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate requests from internal and external customers for Respiratory Care Services.
  • Ensure team accountability and stewardship of operational, financial, and human resources in alignment with organizational and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Perform respiratory therapy and testing as outlined in the Respiratory Care Practitioner 1 and 2 position descriptions.
  • Supplement staffing according to departmental staffing plans and leadership guidance.
  • Review patient medical records and Epic orders each shift.
  • Adjust orders to match prescribed therapy and discontinue unnecessary orders according to departmental policies and guidelines.
  • Record charting inaccuracies identified through chart reviews and report findings to leadership.
  • Promote a customer-focused service model.
  • Work with key partners to improve departmental efficiencies.
  • Recommend operational modifications and facilitate changes as needed.
  • Serve as a clinical expert and first-line resource.
  • Serve as a liaison between team members and leadership.
  • Identify and escalate concerns in a timely manner using the proper chain of command.
  • Foster a positive work environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and other stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
  • At least one specialty practice credential is preferred, including Adult Critical Care Specialist, Neonatal Pediatric Specialist, Sleep Disorder Specialist, Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist, or National Asthma Educator credential.
  • One to two years of previous Respiratory Care lead or supervisor experience is preferred.
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty credential is preferred.
  • Adult Critical Care Specialty credential is preferred.
  • Good organizational skills are preferred.
  • Safe and appropriate patient care within respiratory care practice standards is preferred.
  • Judgment and superior problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • Positive and professional communication with internal and external customers is preferred.
